US passport?
Find answers to your legal question.

US passport?

We're thinking about traveling out of the States for the first time. How long does it normally takes to process our passport applications? Thanks!

If you pay an additional US$60 per application, and arrange overnight delivery each way, you can expect your passport within two to three weeks. Otherwise, it could take at least ten weeks - there are unprecedented numbers of people applying for passports for the first time in order to meet the new travel regulations.

Be certain that you understand and meet all of the requirements, fill out the application legibly and completely, sign it, and include the appropriate photographs.

it depends where you're having them processed. You should contact the place where you're submitting your application, and they will let you know. I'd give it a couple of months to be safe. They can also expedite them for a fee.

right now it is high season , so? therefore if you are not in a rush ? 8 to 10 weeks ,
in case you are in a hurry please read this ......
Expedited Service :

Cost, in addition to regular application fees, is $60 per application plus overnight delivery costs.
Two-way overnight delivery is strongly suggested.
If you mail in - clearly mark Expedited on the envelope.
Anyone may request expedited service for any type of application (e.g., first-time applications, renewals, amendments of existing passports, etc.)

Expedited processing 3 days. Otherwise 10+ depends on where and when you apply. Post office is easier, but adds a couple of days.
