USA Visa for an international student in UK?

Hi!

Here are my details:
- I am Lebanese.
- I am an international postgraduate student in the UK
(Eventhough at this moment, I'm studying as an exchange student elsewhere in Europe)
- My Masters programme is an 18-month programme that ends in March 2008.
- I have a full scholarship that covers my tuition and living expenses in the UK valid until end of March.

I want to visit the USA for 2 weeks in summer 2007.
it is usually very difficult to get a US tourist visa for someone of my age at the US consulate in my country.

I have some questions:
1. Usually, the US consular officer ask for bank statements,
how much money should I have in my account for a 2-week holiday (to show to the consular officer)?
is it enough to show bank statements that I am receiving a monthly scholarship?

2. From the details I provided, is it likely that I will get a 2-week visa if I provide a letter from university that my programme ends in March 2008?

One thing:
My brother is now a US citizen (he went there as a tourist at first),
shall I say in the application that I'm going to visit him, or better to mention that I'm going for tourism?

I really intend to return to the UK after the end of my 2-week vacation, any suggestions how I can proove this to the consular officer during my interview?

All you have to prove to the officer is your INTENT to return. So show him everything that you have especially your affiliation to the University and the letter would really help. Dont mention your brother or he will think you are going there to join him especially as he went as a tourist too.

The Consular Section is now performing normal visa services. Please see Embassy Beirut's Press Release for current instructions and information on visa processing for Lebanese citizens.
The Embassy is located in Aoukar, off the Dbayeh Highway, facing the Aoukar Municipal Building. The Consular Section provides full Nonimmigrant Visa Services for Lebanese Citizens and other nationals who hold Lebanese residency.
Applicants for nonimmigrant visas should visit any branch of Credit Libanais Bank, where they can pay the nonrefundable U.S. $100 application fee and receive an appointment for an interview at the Embassy.

Machine-Readable Passport Requirements
Effective Oct. 26, 2004, visa waiver travelers from all 27 Visa Waiver Program countries must present either a machine-readable passport or a valid U.S. visa. Travelers with a valid U.S. visa will not be required to have machine-readable passports. In addition, as of September 30, 2004, all VWP travelers arriving at a U.S. port of entry will be required to enroll in US-VISIT, a program involving a digital photograph and fingerscans. In a related item, President Bush signed into law a 1-year extension for the date countries are required to produce biometric passports in order to ain eligible for the Visa Waiver Program, delaying the requirement until October 2005.
