Validity on Chinese passport when reentering the US?

My wife is a Chinese citizen with a green card. We are going to China over Christmas, but when we return to the US her passport will only have ~ 5 mo before expiration. Does she need to renew her passport before we go to China?

not sure you will have time to renew it?
going to her country, she is allowed,she is a citizen of China,

make a copy of passport and green card before leaving and keep apart, for safety measures,
hope the green card is not up to renewal? |

In the past, the Chinese passport had a five-year validity period. However, since 2007, it has become valid for ten years for holders who are 16 years or older. Chinese passports are up to date with technology, as they are machine-readable. The information contained in them is in English and simplified Chinese. |
