Visa declined from British Embassy in Tunis because of savings. We now plan to marry in?

As my boyfriend's visa was refused because of no savings, we now plan to marry in Tunisia. Can anyone advise what I need to do. Is there any point in appealing against the decision? I own my home, but only work part-time and have one child. I get working tax credit because my child is under 16 years, but I think the Embassy regard this as public funds!!! Once again we will have to submit the VAF2 when I go to Tunisia. What application do I need to complete to marry in Tunisia and is it correct that we need to go to the Embassy again to get a marriage license? Wow, my head is spinning! Any advice and guidance would be appreciated. My boyfriend is well educated, but likes to spend money same as me!

Please don't get married until you are sure he is not just after half of everything you've got. Why don't you just live together for about 20 years until you are sure of him and if not then at least get him to sign a British Pre - Nup! 99% of these foreigners are after gullible women with money and the chances are that you've snared one of them - sorry!

If he has no savings, I wouldn't be marrying him. You have a child to support and house to run, what will he be contributing? save the money and get married in this country, much less hassle.

Advise. Don't marry Tunisian!
I have heard so many story's of women marrying Tunisians & loosing everything! You own your own house! He has nothing!

Sign a pre- nuptial aggrement before you do anything!

You need to understand that the requirements for your fiance's spouse visa to come here after marriage are the same as those for a fiance visa. If he has been turned down, and nothing else has changed, it is odds on he will also be refused the spouse visa.

It is possible to appeal. You really need to talk to an immigration solicitor as soon as possible, as there is a deadline - 28 days I think - to lodge his appeal. The position with tax credits is a bit complicated. The lack of savings would probably matter less than the limited income - even though after marriage he would apply for an extension, which once granted would allow him to work.

Depending on the advice of a solicitor, you may have to consider the nuclear option - living in Tunisia. After four years of marriage there, he can apply to come to the UK with you on a settlement visa. I'm not sure what if any are the income etc requirements for this visa.

The advantages are - you would be reassured that he was not just interested in getting his stay then dumping you - which does really happen too often; you would get to know his family, language, and culture; your child would grow up with two cultures.

If your fiance is well-educated, he might qualify under HSMP. Check

Imagine the Embassy would get the idea that he also would attempt to live on public funds.Sorry to depress you but maybe he is using you for a visa be careful.

You can't get it.. When my fiance came to me we needed to show his Visa that proved he was good to get married. If you run off to get married it will be alot harder for you 2 to stay together- I looked into getting married before the paperwork and it was just a load more of stuff that i iddn't want to deal with! Tell your fiance to start saving and you do the same! If you really love eachother you can stop spending so much to get to eachother! Good luck!
