I have been refused a UK business visit visa and have been banned from making visa applications for UK for the next 10 years.
I had previously stayed in the UK for 10 months. The refusal letter mentions that as per British records, I had applied for an extension for indefinite stay in the UK, which was refused by the home office. Since I had not mentioned any such extension application in my visa application, the visa has been refused on charges of deception.
But I never applied for any extension for indefinite stay mentioned in the refusal letter. While I was in the UK, my employer got my stay extended for 9 months. This extension was mentioned in the visa application.
As per my understanding, one has to stay in the UK for at least 5 years to apply for indefinite stay (permanent residence). I was not even eligible for this since I stayed there for less than a year.
Is it possible that the home office has incorrect records? If so, please let me know what can be done about this. In order to get my stay extended for 9 months, I had submitted my passport to my employer. I wonder if my employer or any agency that got my stay extended on behalf of my employer messed up somewhere leading to such records.
I have also started wondering if a visa refusal on charges of deception and a ban for 10 years could have an adverse impact on any visa applications I make for other countries.

If they had stamp rejected on your passport forget about other EU countries letting you in. If they see that on your passport. You would be questioned by immigrating police officers. They look it like this: If he/she is not good enough to be allowed into the UK why should they be allowed in here |

An entry ban for the UK will affect you entry status for Ireland also. It won't affect your travels to the rest of Europe (Schengen), as the UK is not a member of that group.
If you believe that Home Office records are incorrect, then take that up with them (without filing a new application). |
