I have a friend that was refused a visa to travel to the States last year, they said he didn't have proof of sufficient ties to his country (he basically didn't have the proof with him).
He is attempting to reapply next month, this is what he has, I'm wondering if this is sufficient - proof of bank account, certificate of occupation, and a certificate stating he is sole supporter of his elder parents (dad is 96, mom is 90) - do you think this is enough?

No one here can really tell you if this will be sufficient or not, because no one here will actually make the decision on the visa. Immigration law requires each applicant to convince the interviewing officer that he is not an intending immigrant and that he will return after a short stay. What you're describing sounds like that may be possible for him but there's no way to really know. |

No...sorry...unless he has a very healthy bank account and a really good job to return to. Being sole support of his elderly parents will actually work against him. It is VERY hard to convince the visa officer that you will return to your home country. The presumption is that EVERYONE will try to stay in the U.S. I have been through this with a friend also and have talked to many others with similar experience. Even people who have traveled to the U.S. and returned when they were supposed to are being turned down when they apply for new visas.even wealthy people are being turned down. This is frustrating...but is the way things are right now. |

1) Proof of bank account - How much is in it?
2) Certificate of Occupation - Well, what does he do and does he get paid very well?
3) Cert Sole supporter of his parents - this will probably hurt him as the embassy might think he might overstay to look for work in the US and never return.
additional stuff you may want to include:
Title to any assets you may have....the more assets the better...that way it would prove that you wont just abandon them. |
