and we will be cutting it fine, getting there for after 12 if we're lucky!! It says visas are given on a first come first serve basis. Does it get really busy?

Strange really, isn't it?
Some countries welcome visits from foreigners, even build a whole tourist industry around it, and then make it difficult for the potential tourist to get a visa to enter the country! Consulates only work short days, and one wonders how they justify the expense of having a staffed consulate at all! All those travel agents selling holidays, and just a few half-day consulates able to issue the necessary permission to enter the country.
One suggestion is to leave it up to the tour company to fix the paperwork, another is to avoid spending your money in countries that make you feel unwelcome by imposing a visa requirement.
Of course, these visa requirements are often reciprocal, so a country that has a visa restriction placed on its nationals, reciprocates by imposing the same restriction on the other country's nationals.
This does not cost either country's government a penny, but the citizens of both have to bear the cost of "tit for tat". |

Never been to that one, but they frequently queue round the block at the Indian one to get visa's their so I wouldn't be suprised.
