What are the risks?

One of my penpals needs an invitation letter from me in order to enter my country. He says the consulate office has asked for it. I'm not sure if I could call the guy penpal cuz we haven't talked much.
Anyhow my concern is, is there any risk if I do it? I'll be given my personal info out and everything. The letter would be faxed to the India embassy here.

I can't see anything rebounding on you if you don't tell lies about the extent to which you know him or anything else. Don't do it if you don't feel comfortable about it though.

With all those details they could easily do id fraud. It is true that many countries need a letter of invite but it is usually just a letter stating Hi
want to come visit and you can stay with me while you are here.

Know that you are responsible for him when he enters the country....I wouldn't do it

a risk is a business which we don't like to do because it irritates us

I wouldn't be giving out all of my personal info to someone that I barely know... for them to get into the country. That's just seems silly to me.
