Well im trying to go to germany during june and i am an immigrant in us. i have my green card but i do not want to get a us passport. i just want the visa from germany. but i dont know if im qualified to travel out of us.

so i am cameroonian. so i can just go to the germany embassy aply for a visa because im only visiting for the summer and i can go with no problems?

I don't think any of the other answers got it entirely right.
I assume you are a green card holder and a citizen of Cameroon.
- To go to Germany you need your Cameroonian passport and a schengen visa for Germany,
- To enter and leave the US you need only your Green card. US Citizens require a passport but green card holders only need a green card.
To do the trip you describe you need both the passport with visa and the green card. |

Germany will not let you in without a passport, and if your passport is from Cameroon, you will also need a visa. American passports do not.
In order to return to the United States after your holiday, you will also need your passport and green card to re-enter the country. |

There is no such thing as an alien citizen
You are either a Lawful Permanent Resident of the US and a citizen of some other country, or you are a US Citizen.
If you are a US Citizen you would not have a "green card" (I-551), it would be taken away from you when you naturalized and you received your naturalization certificate. You would then need to apply for a US Passport to travel overseas as a US Citizen.
If you are a LPR, Germany will not care that you have LPR status in the US. They will care what country you are a citizen of, and demand that you have a valid passport from that country, and a valid visa if citizens of that country are required to have a passport. |

If you have a green card, you are not a US citizen, you are a "legal resident", you can not get a US passport because you are not a citizen, but you need to use the passport from whatever country you are to enter or leave the US. |

you will need a passport (because of visa) to enter Germany, ask the German embassy for a visa,
