What do i wear for US Consulate interview?

I agree that the visa officers deserve respect, and dressing matters (unless it is over dressing). I stay in India and people have advised me to wear formals. I'm planning to wear a suit. I'm going for a B2 visa with my wife. Would that do?

If its summers, do not wear a suit as it tells the officer "Its burning outside and he is over-dressed".

Anyway, they do not issue or deny a visa based on what you wear.

A shirt and a tie, that you do once you are inside the embassy and before you appear before the visa officer.

Just relax pal, look clean and neat and alert. Your personality also matters along with your looks and your qualifications. Make sure to make eye contact with the officer all the time you are being interviewed, and do not fumble or drum your fingers on the table. Answer only as much as you have been asked. Do NOT volunteer informaion.
