What does the "routine" computer check for spousal visa entail?

My wife just had her IR-1 (immigrant visa for spouse) interview at the American embassy. The officer, who was rapid-fire in his questioning but polite and even considerte (he often spoke to my wife in her native language to alleviate her anxiety) didn't tell us whether she was granted the visa. He said they were running a computer check on me and there had been a delay, which he assured us was routine. He kept all our paperwork, said it was complete, and did not give us a blue slip. He said if there was a problem, we'd be contacted in a few days, otherwise we should expect her passport with visa to be delivered within two weeks. As we were leaving he told my wife in her own language "Congratulations."

Since then she's been on pins and needles. She's worried what the computer might find. I don't have any criminal record but my credit rating is lower because I've never owned a credit card. The only other possible glitch is a student loan (not defaulted). Any guess what's up?

if you do not have anything in your records,nor a heavy past, all should go well, do not stress, it will be okay, it is normal procedures ,
on the default loan? was it a federa loan?

what is a federal loan? or a bank loan? and how long ago was that?
