What does this phrase mean 'Changes must be authorised' on a British visa?

I know this is not a place to ask neither any one here is an immigration expert but I just wondered if any one knew what does this phrase 'Changes must be authorised' means on some of the British visas issued by the Home Office.

Serious answers only!

it means what it says! name changes and things like that have to be checked and autorised by someone in autority to make sure that the changes that you are making are legitimate and not fraudulant.

The phrase 'Changes must be authorised' means that any changes to the details on the Visa must be authorised by an official of the Home Office etc. In other words, if the Visa has your address on it and you move to another address, you will need to get authorisation from the issuing authority. They will then change the details of your address on the Visa or simply issue a new document showing the new details.

I am not an expert - this is just my interpretation of what your question means. If it is a problem try contacting the authority which issued you with the Visa.

You are in luck as most of the answers given by the people before me are all legit and correct!

No changes may be made by anyone other than the issuing authority to that visa. Be it a typo or info correction or change of situation. **

It depends on what type of visa you have. For example if you have a work permit and the visa to go with it, the statement means that before you can change jobs then you have to notify the appropriate authorities that would be the home office, or I suspect their local representatives ie the local immigration office or police station.
You may also need to inform them of a change of address, whether you intend to get married to a British national etc, etc, etc.
