You don't mention it, but I will assume you are a US citizen. You will need proof of your US citizenship - your Mexican FM3 visa has no bearing on your return to the US.
If you are shipping a large amount of household goods back, your freight forwarder should be able to help you with the regulations. If you are simply packing up a car and driving back, or packing your bags and flying back, returning residents are normally granted a duty-free exemption of US$800 on items accompanying them. Controlled substances, obscene articles, and toxic substances are generally prohibited.

If you are a US Citizen, nothing is "required" to return home. However, begining January 1, 2007 ALL US Citizens returning from a foreign country (including Mexico and Canada) will need to have their passports. As of now you can go back and forth to our neighboring countries without a passport. Better hurry- the lines are starting to get long at the passport office (try the post office first).
You can bring anything you want back that is not restricted by customs. |
