What is the difference between uk and gb?

Great Britain only includes England, Scotland, and Wales...the United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and a few other places.

Basically, Great Britain is only the big island...while the UK is the country that includes everything.

Northern Ireland. That was simple. The complicated part is that there's no adjective refering to the UK (you can't have something that's "United Kingdomian"). So, many people (including The Guardian) simply use "British".
