What is the law about US govt employees wearing uniforms of foreign governments?

Where I work (outside the US) we have a US govt. employee who insists on wearing the uniform of the local police, minus insignia. He looks rediculous and is embarrassing all the Americans. Would sure like to find something to make him stop.

Check the Geneva Convention. I am fairly certain there is a provision about finding a civilian in a uniform of foreign personnel equal to treason.

Depends on the laws of the locals. I wore a WW1 German uniform(Im a Reenactor) and was told by a rent-a-cop guarding the base I couldnt wear it. I quoted word and verse the german law regarding such. It wasnt a "nazi" uniform, and the only thing I could think it would violate would be the Versaille Treaty. I wouldnt wear a cop uniform, that is bizzarre and could be illegal, but again in germany i could wear a BGS jacket WITHOUT insignia, and it would be ok. What I wear on MY time is MY business.

Tell you what, thats illegal... he's really a spy from the local police :)

that IS illegal, as well as ignorant. let him go out in public & get arrested for impersonating a cop.
