What should I say when asked my nationality ?

...to be strictly correct. Born in Glasgow. Hold a UK passport. British or UK ? IS " BRITISH" a nationality...if not...what ?

....sorry thanks for the below...it's a point of etiquette... I am actually an Indian resident with no emotional attachment to either the UK or Britain...which is actually correct *legally*. The answer has to be the same or someone born in Belfast or Glasgow ( not pre-empting the answer )

I hear you. The correct nationality is British for formal response but I would respond as Scottish if asked informally.

The Scottish response to a formal question is not incorrect but just makes things take longer (I did it accidentally in Moscow and it took a while for them to get their head around it when I had a UK passport).

You're British. Put British cos if you feel patriotic and put Scottish they wont accept that on passports!

It's not the problem wether you're a UK or British..they are almost the same..the problem is do you have the sense of belonging....of loyalty..some people spend their whole lives travelling but don't even have a small piece of land to call it a homeland..

I would say Scottish patriotically but if it is the same as someone from Belfast it would be British. But for your passport but British.
