What steps do I need to take to get my Philippine visa?

I'm planning on moving permanently to the Philippines as soon as I graduate from high school. What do I need to do. Or should I just go there with my passport and then apply for a visa?What type of visa should I get? How about a working visa? Help? This will be in 2010.I just want to think ahead.

if you are an US citizen? you will need a work visa before you go to the Philippines, therefore find a job ahead of time.
