Where can I find a island to set up my own country?

If I can do it does it mean I can have diplomatic immunity in all the rest of the world?

Even if you could afford an island with the necessary infrastructure to support life in a comfortable way, you will find that every piece of habitable real estate on the Earth is already claimed by one country or another.

But let's imagine, for a moment, that you suddenly come across a choice, unclaimed little island with fresh water, you build yourself a nice little compound, and arrange for regular deliveries of food and all the other necessities of life. Further, let's assume you declare yourself a sovereign nation.

Now you have to find somebody who cares that you exist in every single country in the world (that you want diplomatic immunity within, anyway). You have to get recognition of your sovereignity from each of those countries. They have to agree to let you establish a diplomatic mission (an embassy or consulate) in their country. They have to accept your certification of yourself as the diplomat between your "country" and theirs. Then you have to behave in a way when you're in each country that doesn't get you declared 'persona non grata' -- a designation that gets you thrown out of the host country and forbidden to ever again.

None of this is going to happen, but it's a nice day dream.

I don't think you can find anymore island where you can set up a new sovereign country. But if you're looking for an island where you can set up anything, except your own sovereign state, you can find it here in the Philippines. I know some island which are being sold. If you want my help just contact me. My log-in name or ID in Yahoo Answer is the same with my log-in or ID in Yahoo Mail

There are all kinds of islands for sale all over the world, you just have to find an agent that is selling them, however, the polar ice caps are melting, so make your purchase wise, you don't want to buy an island that is underwater in a few years!

Yes. If you set up your own country with a government, then appoint yourself ambassador, and get another country to recognize your country and ambassadorship, then you could get diplomatic immunity until then kick you out.

if you have a spare few million, in the arab emerates, the are building islands for the rich, you can even pick the shape you want your island to be

this is probably the least productive way to avoid paying a parking infringement.
