Why are some things IMPOSSIBLE!!!???

im a permanent resident in the united states but a citizen of argentina. my passport has been expired for about 2 years now and i desperately need to get it renewed....but i live in PA and the embassy in DC absolutely NEVER answers their phone. and you cant leave a message cause it says the voice mail is full. and when i send them emails, they reply back telling me to call!!!!

my parents used to take care of this kind of thing but i have to do this myself now. does anyone know how long it takes to get a passport renewed??? if i take a day trip to DC, can i get it all taken care of that day??

im not too interested in becoming a US citizen. so far, ive gotten along fine without being one...but i might need to in the future.

Well i dont see why people dont want a US citizenship. But its good that you dont cause most latinos end up voting republican. alot of latinos i know think bush is the greatest man in the world. Argentina might not be as republican as the rest of south america. But actually i know an argentinian whos are naturalised american who is a devout republican/dubya lover.

tough as hell
contact Argentina embassy in Washington,d.c they will help you

First off-- 2 years? What were you thinking? Second, if you are in Philadelphia, there should be a consulate in New York. Easy by train. Where in PA are you?

So you tried calling the passport section at (202) 238-6433?

The embassy's web site doesn't give much information, so there's no way to know if they'll give you a passport the same day. There's not way to know even what the passport section's hours are - I see how frustrated you must be.

But you only live in Pa. Can you take the train to DC? I suggest you stick your expired passport in your pocket and show up at the embassy at about 8:30 in the morning and try your luck. At least - if the passport section is open that day - you can get the process started.

You could also apply for US ciitzenship! ;-}

The same thing happened to me, except that I am from Honduras. Look, your best chance is that the have the consulate from argentina come somewhere near you, maybe you can go to the consulate's website and see if they are visiting anywhere near you. If not, then you'll probably have to call the consulate or the embassy and ask them if you can go there, get your passport renewed and then mailed to you. In my case, it wasn't. and I had to go over there and get it. It is usually that way so you can sign for it and it all be legalized. Your best shot is calling them and finding out if the consulate is going somewhere near you, fortunately they happened to come to NC every 5 months or so I had the chance get my picture taken for my passport and sign for it and all. You should get somehow in touch with them, my guess is that the consulate probably visits New York or Philadelphia, since the always pick big cities to go to, and then get your picture taken and get them to send it to you by mail. If not, then you might have to go to the consulate or embassy in DC get your picture taken and get them to send it to you by mail. Good luck and I hope I was helpful.

Can you get through to the Argentine government at home? Through the Internet?

I know you can get a US passport application via a downloadable form, and send it in. I would think they would have the same thing.
