A lot of flags are similiar, use the same same colours and lines etc. the Dutch and the French flag are pretty close.

Liberia too got a very similar Flag! only coincidence. So many flags are similar e.g. Ireland and Italy, France, Luxembourg and Holland (transverse and Longitudinal) Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Iraq are all similar, Sudan, Emirates, Palestine all similar..only coincidence!

The Liberian flag looks like the American flag because former slaves who left the US founded Liberia in the 19th century.

When Malaysia became independent in 1957, they simply decided to model their flag after the US flag. Please note that on the Malaysian flag, there are 14 bars, not 13 (the Malaysian flag starts on red and ends on white whereas the US flag starts and ends on red)
