I have relatives in other places that have been trying to come here fopr years but the US embassy won't let them. I just wanted to know why.

Because they have procedures they follow. Just think how many people are trying to come here.
My husband got his visa to come here from Egypt in about 2 months, but I know some people living here with kids that are waiting for years. |

Good luck. There are many reasons. I applaud them for trying. If you want to help, find a lawyer that is familiar with immigration laws. There may be a loophole or something you can do. |

It isn't the Embassy that is making the rules, it is the laws that this country is governed by. There are a certain number of people that are allowed to enter the U.S. and no more. I am sorry it is taking a while for your family to come into the country.

They have to go there with cash in hand. You have to go to the American Counsulate and apply for a visa, it costs $100. This does not guarantee a visa, only an interview. |

Certain thing in a person's background may automatically make a person inadmissable into the US. You can find these in the US INA code 212. Now you must also remember, the embassy only issues VISAS! A VISA is permission to come and knock at the door. US CBP has the final say into who comes and who doesn't. That's right! "La Migra" can revoke any visa from any person applying for admission into the US. Diplomats and celeberties are no exceptions! Just ask Russel Crowe. He is in the US on a special "O" visa and if found guilty of any crime involving moral terpitude (CIMT), automatically becomes inadmissable.
If the embassy also believes that a person is attempting to get a VISA for purposes other than what is stated, they will not issue one.
Check the INA for all the inadmissability codes. There are tons of them! |
