Why don't forgien countries like America?

Im going to answer this question as best i can.

1. Foreign Policy, doesn't need an explanation.

2. Self Glorification - World War 2 , any American that comes out with the recycled statement of " You would be speaking German right now if it weren't for us " is hurting their country's reputation.The allies in Europe ran themselves into bankruptcy to win that war so people do find it very offensive when all this is casually cast aside to suit the US feelgood factor and patriotism.
I could go on about this but i wont.

3. The Internet - I have never been to the US, allot of people haven't been. So peoples opinions and perceptions of the US come from media and the internet.
-Countless times, i have come across sheer boasting and arrogance about the US being the greatest country on the planet, the greatest place to live, the most free ( LOL ).
-Ive come across people from the US who have believe that the UK is run by the Queen and that citizens do not have a vote, so essentially they are saying Britain is not a democracy.
- Ive come across people who believe they live in the greatest civilization ever, when all they know is US history and nothing else.

4. People like the person above.
"One simple answer. Because they are Jealous and wish they could be us."

You love your country, right?
The majority of people on this earth love the place of their birth, it is their homeland, it is their nationality. They are immensely proud to be from that country.

The person above, is saying that we aren't proud of our own country and that we would rather be American.

Taking my points about loving your country into account, think about how annoying that statement about jealousy is for a second. Ive seen this statement countless times. This is downright offensive.

5. Patriotism - While i got no problem with Patriotism, but the US just goes over the top. We get so much talk from the US saying " We are great , fantastic , a symbol of freedom , a symbol of hope and glory.

" Ive never visited another country in my life , but il just assume the US is the greatest because i live here and the media tells us we are the best , and since its something i like to hear , it MUST be true".

Let me put it to you like this, you work in an office ok? Everyday one of your co-workers comes in and loves to talk about himself and basically screams " IM THE GREATEST! :D " at you at any conceivable opportunity.
I read in an article in a paper once about one of Obama's speeches, he was basically playing the patriotic tune about America being the leader of the free world knowing that it would gain him popularity because the citizens LOVE hearing this.

6. Hollywood - This isn't a really big issue but it gets on peoples nerves. Hollywood attempts to rewrite history to make everything seem the US is the saviour of the planet. Especially with World War 2 movies.

I could go on.

On a personal level , Point number 1 and number 4 irritate me the most.

Im Irish, I love this country , i love my accent lol , i love my culture, i love my life. Im not jealous of anybody.

You might have read down through this and been in disagreement but this is what we get thrown at us through the media and internet.

I'm American, and Simon G is correct.

American's are a spoiled-self serving people. Which is exactly why its going down the drain.

Take a look at the Big 3 going to Washington on private jets begging for money. Take a look at their wages and the union. this is a classic arrogant attitude. And yes lazy as can be. When I was a kid growing up we we're poor. However, as kids we didn't drag our parents down with our petty wants of this and that. We used to get up after school was out and go pick berries and seasonal crops to buy school clothes. When was the last time I saw a white or black kid out their doing that type of labor. Then you wonder why parents are filing for food stamps now. But hey, Jimmy has $500.00 shoes.

Take a look at Hollywood and the vanity the crops from it.
Years ago I went on a cruise. One of the ports was Mexico.
We went to the beach that day. Right before we left, the party I was with didn't even think about picking up their trash. I got up and picked every bit of trash and handed it the Mexican who was working
behind the bar. You don't go to another country and trash it.
This is how Americans act.

I've lost my pride in America a long time ago, sad to say.

Walk through a high school and look at how they dress. Pants hanging down to the crack of their butts and short skirts.

I really don't blame foreign countries for feeling the way they do.

Because America for many many years has gone to countries with wealth and says we will fix your government. While the war is going on the companies steal the wealth and the people are poorer and have been through wars etc. etc. Read old history books not government books. We do not FIX poor Countries.
