Why is UN so useless and so antiquated?

I have high hopes for UN in 70's since I am from a third world country. Now I think they are just wasting funds and so unable to fix the third world poverty and civil wars and unable to stop dictatorships and genicides etc. We should eliminate UN from the world or need a big shake up.

Everybody alwyas looks to the UN to solve the world's problems, and eveyrone thinks every country should give their sovereignty to the UN. But just like you said, it just ends in war, poverty, genicides, evil dictatorships, etc., etc. The UN should be done away with, but it's not going to happen in our world.

the UN is not useless. why do you think there hasn't been a world war since it's creation? would you rather have a warlord like hitler having the entire planet under his control?
