Why is africa so much ignored in the www?

Unfortunately, like most community constructs, is dominated by the people who create it and who have access to it.

The vast majority of Africans, and more simply, the vast majority of the world's poor

1. do not have access to the technology,
2. do not have access to the skills to learn how to use the technology
3. are too busy trying to survive to have time to "waste" on the web, even if they could.

Therefore there is little African-oriented on the web and most of what is again largely driven by South Africa, which is the most prosperous, most technologically advanced country on the continent and also has the advantage of being English-speaking therefore promoting access to the overwhelmingly English-language media on the internet.

I think it is because so many African Governements are extremely corrupt, and do not work cooperatively with other Governments, or for the benefit of their own people.

Africa has remained in shambles due to war, disunity and poverty. In order that it could be placed on the Map, it must improve its economy and lifestyle. If it had potentials, then countries and businesses will place Africa on the world map.

Africa has very few people with access to the internet, the only nation that has the possibility of profitibility is South Africa, and only there because of the rich white minority.

I know that when I try to have any sort of electronic equipment shipped to me in China, I get a message saying that it cannot be. I know it is the same for Africa because I've tried to ship to my husband's family there. I can get books and clothes shipped to either place, but not electronics.

As for no countries in Africa being listed, I haven't had this problem. My husband comes from Benin, one of the smallest, most insignificant countries in Africa, but it is on most lists of countries. The one or two sites I've found that don't list Benin also don't list a lot of other countries. They just have a more limited range, I guess.

Like everything else in the world, it's all about money. Africa has some of the poorest countries in the world.

I have no idea. It really is horrible. But then again why did the woeld stand by for the slaughter and ethnic cleansing in Darfur, Sudan?
