Why the president doesnt sleep in the US embassy when he is abroad?

Colonel Sturgeon
The embassy itself is usually an office building, and has hardly any place to sleep. Some may have a spare room for traveling staff, but not enough space for the President and his Entourage.

Also, housing may be available in the Ambassadors residence, but again - usually not enough for the President and his entourage. A hotel is better capable to provide enough space.

Of course, this varies from post to post.

Embassies are office buildings. There are no accommodations there for the Ambassador or anyone else.

A President & First Lady could conceivably stay at the Ambassador's residence, but typically there are too many people in the President's party to put up in any house (except maybe Buckingham Palace and the like!). There's just not enough space to add a Secret Service detail and even a couple of staffers. Where would you put up two dozen or more houseguests, even if it's just for one night?

embassies are not motels. more like business offices, there are no residential facilities. Ambassadors do not live in embassies.

A visiting US President is considered a guest by the country he is visiting thus the accomodation is more likely given by the host country. Besides, not even the Ambassador themselves resides or sleeps in the Embassy.
