Hi Dimples -- I don't mean to sound too condescending, but, come on: 140 million people in Nigeria, probably 139 million of whom have no opportunities or prospects. If you were Nigerian and got a visa to the U.S., wouldn't YOU go -- to live, to work, to study? And then marry Susie Q. Johnson so that you could have residency and eventually citizenship?
The problem is -- the visa your friend applied for was a TOURIST visa -- i.e. for 2 weeks to visit Disneyland. Given the likelihood that, if given a visa, your friend will follow the procedure in paragraph #1, he was denied. And if by some miracle your friend really did plan on visiting briefly and then returning to Nigeria, I'm sorry he was denied, but it's awfully hard to tell "the sheep from the goats" from the consul's side of the interview window. |

There are several reasons for rejection - he didn't have proof of funds to show he had enough money to support himself, he didn't demonstrate that he had a home/family/job that he would return home to, etc |
