My visa (M-1) does not allow me to work here in the USA. Is there any way for me to get legal and work?

Employment not authorized means just that. You were granted your current visa (M-1) with the understanding that you had the financial resources necessary to cover your expenses in the US without having to work, and that you intended to comply with the visa requirements.
If you want to work, you will need to apply for a different type of visa, for which you may or may not be qualified. |

When you say "get legal," that implies that you are not legal now. Are you still a student, or did you stop attending the school that you were last authorized to attend?
The only employment that an M-1 student may accept is after graduation. You may not accept employment of any other kind.
You may apply for practical training following successful completion of your studies. If approved, you will be allowed to have one month of practical training for every four months of study you have completed. You will be limited to six months total practical training time. |

If you are on an M1 visa then you are not permitted work. There is nothing you can do, unless you are eligible for a F1, J1 or an H classification visa. |

Like CPG says, obviously not on the M-1. Of course if your intent is not to go to school, you'll be out of status before you can even apply to adjust. If you don't show for class, or show and drop out, your school is required to report you and you'll be out of status. If you qualify for something else while you're in status, adjust status through USCIS, then yes. |
