i know that it is impossible to extend a short-stay visa in germany more than 90 days as this is its maximum, but i am asking about extending an actual short-stay visa from 60 to 89 days, which is simply still within the 90 days limit? and what is the name of the office assigned for this in germany?

i have a two-month short stay visa for medical training, but after i got the visa i had an invitation letter for a third month from different hospital, so can i extend my visa to the 89 days during my stay in germany? i already have the invitation letter and the request from the hospital for visa...and where should i apply with such papers in germany...thnx

There will be no office in Germany extending a visa if a German Consular Officer abroad has decided that your visa appliation qualifies for a 60 days stay.
An extension may only be granted for humanitarian grounds if a physician states that your repatriation is not possible for medical reasons in case of severe illness or if a family member you have visited suddenly has died and the funeral would be on the 62nd day of stay.
In this case it would be the Alien Office (AuslÃ¤nderbehÃ¶rde) of the German town or community you a presently staying in to decide about an extension. The office can be found in any German town-hall (Rathaus/Gemeindehaus)..

Contact the alien office [AuslÃ¤nderbehÃ¶rde] in the town-hall of the city where the hospital is located and try to get a visa extension [VisaverlÃ¤ngerung]. You need to provide all documents you have submitted to the German Embassy for the initial application plus the documents which justify the extension of stay. The application involves a fee of â‚¬25.00
