need help with my uk passport renewal? (i'm british!)?

what passport do i need to apply for? (first, replacement or changes?) my passport ran out in 2007 and i have since married and changed my name. for changes it says it's for my existing passport, but it's not technically existing because its ran out. i'm not sure about replacement because i have to change details.

The easiest way to get the answers you need and the only real way to get the correct answers would be to phone the passport office and ask them. The staff are trained and will know what you need to apply for. |

As your passport has run out, you apply for a renewal passport. It's the same application form anyway as there's only one and you specify on that what you want. The only documentation of any kind you need to send with it is your expired passport, as that proves you're entitled to another one, plus your marriage certificate to show the change of name.from the previous passport. |

Go to the Post Office and get them to sort it, they will check your application and guarantee it is correct for a small (ish) fee, saves the hassle in the long run |

Uk Deed Poll Advice

Hi,
I would say a replacement passport. When you apply for this you would need to explain your name change and provide legal documentation for this.
A Deed Poll will provide proof of your name change and be accepted by the passport office to issue a passport in your new married name.
You can apply for a Deed Poll online at:
http://www.ukdp.co.uk/
You can apply for a Deed Poll online and then you would also need to pop to your local post office to pick up the form for renewing your passport. Double check this is the correct form before filling it out just in case you need a specific form for your situation.
