We can't enfoce immigration laws until we stop the ever-continuing (and rising) inflow of illegal immigrants. This must be our main goal, otherwise we'll be fighting a losing battle, like we are now.

I'm not paid to come up with a federal policy to fix this. I'd recommend that The Powers That Be site down and try to fix this.

Hmm ... well, considering most Europeans, except possibly Eastern Europeans, Australians, Canadians and New Zealanders seem to prefer to stay where they are, the number will be somewhat diminished ... but, when all Asians, Africans, Middle Easterners and Latin Americans have arrived here, their countries will be empty ... consequently all Americans should move to these countries, lock stock and barrell, plant American flags and start afresh ... the United States would consist of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America as we know it ... wow ... what a power block that would be! And since all the people who formerly lived in these places would now be in what was once the United States, which is exactly what they wanted, we would be perfectly entitled to tell them to stay there ... no going back just because we remade the United States on their former territories ... oh heck, just rambling ... fun to speculate though ... :)

I don't know about everybody wanting to live here....but mexico sure wants to take us over..lol. I think we should distribute pamphlets to all the illegal immigrants we catch at the border with a map drawn on it simply showing the US and mexico...on the mexico part of the map it should b colored in and display prominently..YOURS in spanish....on the US side it should say NOT YOURS in spanish....just to simplify that for them. Just to be clear on my point of view though seriously, I have nothing against LEGAL immigration.

To fit that many people we may have to use 'a modest proposal'. Soilent Green aside, 6.6 billion people in America would raise the need to look at over population problems. Would it be possible to have the resources available without a law such as China's 'One Child' policy? I hope so, but find it difficult to find as solution without some form of organized population control.

Fortunately, immigration policy has nothing to do with over-population since we are not close to the numbers required to realize that nightmare. Immigration policy is primarily a socio-economic issue. Additionally, as far as illegal immigrants, there is the logistical problem of keeping illegals out of the country and deporting the ones that do enter; this is quite costly.

I am perfectly fine with the legal immigration process.

I did always like the idea of privatizing the border to a television network to make the reality show, 'Who wants to be a Citizen'; and fund border security with the show's profits... Oh well...

No every one can't live in the US. There is only so much land and resources for us that are natural born American's to tap into and then you have all the immigrants that are legally here as well. Now I don't mind people from other countries to come here but my only problem with that is really, 2 different things. First, we speak English. Not well sometimes, but that is our national language. Second, we only have so much money that has been put into the Social Security funds and if you are here illeaglly, and you are getting government aid, most of the time, not ALWAYS, people aren't putting money back into the funds. I am 33 and me and my husband have put money into it with the SS tax and now the government is telling us that we might not have any SS when we get of age. Now, I really don't see that as fair. Please, come on over but, if you do, please pay. It is the same idea as paying rent, power, phone, etc. If you can get the service, then you have to pay your bills.

That is just the way I think. I have been to Mexico and seen how some of the people there live and I hate to think that its that way and I can see how they, Mexicans, would want to come here. And, thankfully they are here to take on the jobs that most Americans don't want to get. There are a lot of us that are sitting on our butts, getting walfare or disability and we don't have any problems and don't want to work at Wal-mart for $5.15/hour. I didn't pick Mexicans, real Mexicans, to use as an example for any particular reason but to say that I have seen what deplorable conditions that they can live.

um, well just an idea, i don't think that 6.6 billion ppl could fit in America, and i don't think that even if everyone in the World could come to America, i don;t see why everyone would want to leave wehre they are

Technically yes. When I was in high school there were about 5.5 billion and it was calculated that all of those people could have a sizable home and all fit into the state of Texas.

Eventually we all will. It just wont be called America or the United States. But as the leading superpower in the world we are the driving force in a social evolutionary process that it only now beginning to take shape.

Its going to take the rest of the world to "catch up" on some levels
