It's not about not having money for legal documents. It's the fact that they entered the US border without permission and did this through illegal means. Why should medicaid for instance be paying for free healthcare for millions of illegal immigrants when our healthcare system is lacking funds and is falling apart barely keeping up with the legal hard working American poor? We're not making a mockery of your hard work, simply like - ok - America is not the land of the bleeding heart of Mary. We have an economy to try to rescue, debts far beyond being paid and major challenges as it is - we have to be able to control how many people are just coming in and taking advantage. Just a few weeks ago there was a car wreck in Chicago and an innocent family flipped over in their van - why? because they were struck by an illegal immigrant driving like an insaniac without a license. The guy was treated like citizen and it was an outrage! He was told to come to court when he should have been sent home! Rules and laws are there for the protection of the masses. Illegal immigrants are not following the rules and it's only going to hurt them in the end. I was born here and I've always followed the rules with the car insurance, the license, the birth records etc.... illegal immigrants needed to go about it in the legal way - just like every American citizen does everyday of their lives.

they way they are making a mockery of our laws ? i give credit to the ones who came legal. i know that it may not be easy but if it was, we would still be having some of the same problems we have now, and we have a right to say who comes in ,and how many we have these laws in place for a reason .

After 10 or 15 years of hard work, surely they can afford to begin the process of becoming naturalized citizens, They are driving around in $30,000 vehicles, their homes are worth at least that much. From my point of view, after 10 or 15 years, to remain illegally in America is total proof of refusal of any type of assimilation. I do not believe that they would accept any opportunity to become an American citizen if it were offered with immunity for past transgressions.

I agree with Joe and Renegade but I agree with the poster below me more than anyone. Why is it you are so concerned with criminals from Mexico but you chose to bash the Native people of this land, who have suffered more than any group of people I can think of? If you know ANYTHING about history, which I highly doubt, you would know that. You are the biggest hypocrite of them all here. Funny...I am reading this question differently then everyone else. I am reading that the ignorant mass is the illegals that are not assimilating like this hypothetical person has done. It is on this presumption that i will answer.
I look at it like this, When a man is convicted of robbing a bank the judge doesn't give a lighter sentence sighting the fact that at least he didn't kill the tellers. Or as a parent we don't see that our children have used a crayon on the wall and then say "Well hunny you didn't write on the desk too, so lets go have some ice cream". The benefits of his assimilation was that he didn't get caught until now, and all of the "joy" that goes along with living in America. Furthermore, as long as I have been coming here I have never seen one post where the person said that he/she was an illegal and was ashamed or sorry for it in any way. the only credit or benefit i can see is that if this person has not been deported before he/she will have a chance to re-enter legally. unlike others who have defied the courts decision and returned illegally.

Good one I got you. I read once and again but I got you. They do not get any credit. The ignorant mass only see the bad side of everything. The ignorant mass are not free thinkers. I don't think they will get you because they are precisely ignorant and not tolerant people. They only believe what TV tells them and they are too lazy for thinking by themselves. Big shame for US!
