About how long would it take to petition us both?

My mom and I are Canadian citizens but my older sister is an American citizen because she married an American. They are both in the US Army.
I'm only 15 years old and would like to go to college in the US after I graduate high school. The plan is for my sister to petition my mom first, and then when my mom gets her American citizenship, then my mom will petition me.
About how long would it take for the whole process? Please try to make it as accurate as possible because I want to know if I'll have dual citizenship by the time I graduate high school so I can plan things out.

Well, start to finish for your mother, a year or so. However, add another five years after that for your mother's petition for you, if she files as a legal permanent resident, immediately after she arrives. If she waits to file after she becomes a US citizen, it will take 5 years for that to happen, at a minimum, and add another year or so to process your petition after she files it. You certainly won't have dual citizenship by the time you finish high school. You won't even have a green card at that point, unfortunately. |

i am not really sure how long- but this process is very long sometimes, specially now a days. but if i am not mistaken to save you some time- your sister can actually go ahead and petition you. You don't have to wait for your mom to become legal. She can go ahead and petition you both. |

From my own experience, since 2007 an American citizen can no longer petition for their parents for permanent residency. Chek it out with the American immigration for further clarification. |
