Against or for immigration?

I'm against illegal immigration, and not to sure about legal immigration.

If people come, work and pay their taxes, and are a fully contributing member of society, I support it fully.

If people come, claim benefits, do absolutely no work, then move their entire family over to do exactly the same thing, then I'm against it.

I cannot speak to the immigration situation in Canada, but based on what is happening in the United States.... I am for immigration but against illegal immigration.

Your position for or against immigration can't be black or white.
First, and I need to say this because what another member gave to you as answer is outrageous: that he "can't accept immigration from third-world countries to first world countries because they are living in stone age conditions..." Well, I really hope this person never needs to move to another country, because he/she will suffer a lot. Obviouslly this person is ignorant and intolerant and knows nothing about history, geography, politics and social science in general.
There are many excellent universities and research institutions in those "third-world" countries. Many good writers, scientists and polititians, to name some, come from third-world countries. A lot of people come from those countries to Canada, they come as legal immigrants and they have professional degrees, masters and PHDs. Some speak more than 1 language and some find that many things are older and underdeveloped here compared to their countries.
Immigration is not new. It has happened all the time through the centuries. If not for immigration, you wouldn't have Canada or US. People emigrate for many reasons: they want better jobs, income or safer environments, some just emigrate because they are tired of the weather, the conditions or because of personal reasons. Some countries have nothing more to offer, and sometimes the immigrants do so to improve the opportunities for their children.
Immigrants are needed when a country has not enough of certain skills or professions. In Canada, for example, we need more nurses and physicians.
Immigration is negative for a country when it allows the wrong people to come and stay, or when it offers something and then that something does not come true: like in Canada, many professions and trades are so regulated that many immigrants end up working at McDonalds, as taxi drivers or cleaning offices, having a PHD and even being physicians and nurses.
If that happens, those immigrants will leave or will become ill and frustrated, the "good" of immigration will be lost and the government will have to use money to help them because their income is low. They won't pay taxes and won't take care of Canada, as they are upset and even mad at the whole process. Their children, if they don't find opportunities because their parents can't afford a College for them, will become homeless or unpaid workers, continuing the wrong process.
Immigration is also wrong if there is not real teaching and enforcing about how to take care and integrate in your new home/country. If people is polluting, dirtying the streets, keepig their culture and language but denying integrating into the uses and language of the new culture that is welcoming them, that's a waste of money and time, and that's bad immigration.
Immigration is bad when you open the doors to everybody and the system allows criminals and people without any skill (or with skills that many nationals have and can use here) to enter the country and when really good and educated people have to wait up to 5 or 6 years to be accepted as a legal immigrant.
Canada needs immigrants because the population is aging and the country will need more tax payers to pay for the security and retirement of the older ones. The country benefits when a person comes with a degree from outside, because that means that Canada does not have to pay for that education and that person comes without debts, comes to work and pay taxes.
I would suggest you do some research and then choose your side. if you need to choose the "against" side for educational reasons that's OK, but try to be fair and honest about the reasons.

The illegal immigrants from Mexico will continue to corrupt America. We allow anyone to come in here, pop out babies like machine guns, (bonus check for welfare, which means more moneey) and allow anyone born here to become automatic U.S. citizens. Think of the U.S. as a small jar. Think of the world as a massive glass container. The marbles represent the people...as long as you try to put more and more in from the large jar (represents the entire world), to the small jar (U.S.), eventually, it will start overflowing. That is what is happening...overpopulation is HUGE right now. The rate we are going at, we won't ever be able to build enough roads, houses, schools, hospitals, etc., the way we are growing. The economy is bashed every single year. I have no idea how much the budget is for illegals, but it has to be billions, even trillions of dollars. They come here, get free food, health care, rob from Social Security, live off of welfare. The more kids they have, the more checks they get, so why not have eight to ten kids? The financial burden is horrible...no telling how many trillions these illegals are costing us yearly. How do we stop this crisis? Well, just take the benefits away. If we didn't have all the FREE things to offer, they wouldn't be coming here. The education...HAVE ALL BOOKS IN ENGLISH. Don't let the illegals get college education...take them back to Mexico if they can't get citizenship (it's not like it's hard in the first place...it may be long, but not hard.) The unemployment rates will continue to rise because they come here, don't work or anything, get everything for FREE, so why should they work...they just get everything handed to them in the first place. If they get paid to sit on their butts eating burritos all day instead of working, why not? Bringing more people in to take jobs...BS! If a legal U.S. citizen needs a job bad enough, he/she will do whatever they have to do to get that extra money.

I think everyone needs to stand up to there country and voice what they think needs to be done in there country- like everyones hideing and coming to the united states- well we startd off just like all these othere countrys but we had brave people who had there voice be heard0 so i think people have to stop being cowards and start to voice there opinions.

If highly educated,skilled professionals are immigrating, the answer is yes. If it is illegal immigration, the answer is no. Earlier, many blue collar workers moved to Canada. Not so many to the USA. Now more blue collar workers are moving to the USA, albeit illegally.

There is a difference between ILLEGAL immigration and legal immigration. Illegal immigration involves people wanting to leave their country and sneak into a country because they are physically able to. People that are legal immigrants go through the proper channels and come into a country with permission of the new country.

I am against illegal immigration, I don't think because people show up, that they get to live here. They put extra burdens on the infrastructure and many times deprive legitimate citizens of employment. And in Mexico the third largest source of revenue is money that comes from people working outside the country of Mexico. So the illegal immigrants not only burden the infrastructure, emergency rooms in hospitals, etc. They send most of their income back to Mexico, which means they add very little to the economy of the country they snuck into.

Don't even think of asking any Chamber of Commerce in the USA. They represent small employers who want to get away with paying cash and only giving people $4 and $5 an hour. If a employer cannot pay decent wages of at least $10 an hour, he doesn't need to be in business.

Illegal smuggling of people has no justification and it is NOT immigration, it is SMUGGLING.
On the other hand; as far as immigration is concerned; government is doing immigration, because country need it. I do not think that leaders of a democratic country are so stupid that they are allowing people to come in just because they want to live in Canada. Why people of developed world will come to Canada, they are happy in their homeland.
If you do not like immigration, think about causes and remove them. The only cause is negative population growth!!!!

I am personally against ALL immigration to the First world from the third world. Sorry but I can not see the advantage in letting in people that just barely have left the stone age; are use to political autocracy of one sort or another; and do not have ANY connection to my Nation or People.

If I wanted to live in Mexico; I should have to go to Mexico, not Southern California. If I wanted to live in an Arab country; I should have to go to the middle east and not any major city in the US or Canada. And so one for the rest of the non-ethnic Europeans in my land.

Basically I am for the lands of the Europeans--those being all of Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and the Southern Tip of South America--remaining White, Christian--nominally and not by law--wealthy, prosperous Nations and third world immigration will merely make them into the third world given enough time.

This is not hate, just real non-PC reality. People make society not the other way around and third-worlders' 'societies' are --shall we say--substandard. Why would I want them here in my homeland bringing me down to the level of their homeland?

Now go and report me to big nanny and feel superior because you helped 'stop the hate'!
