i married an illegal alien 2 years ago and divorced hm 1 year and a half later, 2 years later he emails me telling me to sign and notarize an affidavit stating that our marriage was real and that he deserves to stay in the us, should i sign it to get him off my back?
And if I decided no to , can he turn me in for an illegal marriage that took place 3 years ago, can i still go to jail for this,
ive been divorced 2 years now.

No.. he cannot put you in jail for an illegal marriage. Actually, if the debts that were incurred were paid, no one actually cares. If the credit cards you have are yours.. no one cares.

Did u know he was illegal when u married him? if Yes then u had legal obligation to inform him in or sort out his papers. You can be asked by authorities about that.
If u didn't know then u have nothing to worry about.
He probably be asking u for help if the marriage was real, its up to you if u want to help him or not. |

Is the marriage legal? If it is, it is legal. And if it was a real marriage (that you two were in love), then you should just state so.
Whether he deserves to be in the US, is not for you to decide.
You should just state whether the marriage was real or not. Nothing else. |

It depends on how much he is 'on your back'.
Technically, he's the one who's in a position to worry. That's why you're suddenly hearing from him. He needs you to vouch for him so that he can stay in the country legally.
I don't see that you have anything to lose, yourself. If your marriage was illegal it was because HE lied to the authorities about his eligibility, not YOU.
If it were me, I'd blow his a$$ off and wish him a better tomorrow and go on with my life. |
