You do not like it when people call you that when you disagree with them, but you are basically suggesting doing the same thing: taking away their ability to disagree. Banning the word is not going to stop people from disagreeing with you. They will still think you are a racist, and will just find more creative ways of calling you that.
In any case, I will personally stop using the word when people stop giving me a reason to. I am not suggesting you are a racist, but some people on this forum certainly are. I think I reserve the right to point it out when it is appropriate. Racism is wrong. The fact you want the word eliminated lends some credence to their argument: why can't you refute their claims without eliminating the claim?
Consider it a challenge. Think about your point of view. Is it NOT racist? Why or why not? If it isn't, then you don't need the word banned. You've got a good argument instead. If it is... then maybe you need to reconsider your point of view. |

I agree it SHOULD NOT be used to describe everyone who is against the illegals as RACIST, because we are not against one race, and we are made up of many different races. We are only against illegals of any race!

And Serviocal, Canada isn't even CLOSE to being the second contributing country of illegal immigrants. India is next after Mexico. It has to do with economics, not race. Economics is why Canadians don't 'need' to cross illegally, as well. |

The word is way overused - but those types of remarks can't be eliminated. For example, and earlier question said that all whites need to die, and that it would be celebrated. That didn't use the "R" word, but it was certainly implied. So, just banning one word isn't going to change the message.
Of course, that little "report" button comes in handy for situations like that. No group should be put down. |

No-probably shouldn't be banned -but, I know what you mean. I am against illegal immigration too. My ex husband lost a job to illegal immigrants and friends that had to compete with them and lost. Honestly, I feel that all American Citizens come first before anyone else. And that has nothing to do with race. There are American Citizens that are homeless, starving to death and in need of medical attention. Shouldn't they come first. |

I say racist when a person is continually bashing on one specific race and thinks they are superior than them for being of another one. What is up with the comparison to the white kids with du rags? PC speech has incapacitated Americans' ability to have a meaningful discussion about anything. It should DEFINITELY be banned from this forum.
Remember when the mayor of New Orleans declared it was a "chocolate" city and would stay that way (a "racist" statement if ever there was one)? What would happen if the mayor of Salt Lake City declared it a "vanilla" city that would stay that way? There'd be an uproar.
Terms like "racist" are only tossed around when someone has the audacity to question our PC culture and they're only enforced against people who don't swallow the liberal agenda hook, line, and sinker. True debate about meaningful issues is no longer possible -- except in a relatively anonymous forum like this. |

The problem is that you don't want to admit that, even if you're not the case, there IS racism involved in many people with an anti illegal feeling. When you stop focusing on just the Southern Border and start thinking about Canada (the second country with the largest export of illegal immigrants) and the sea ports, THEN we will stop complaining about racism. But until then, cuddle up in your bed hugging a pillow and meditate on what you and you're sympathizers have done wrong. |

I've notice many abuse the word so much that when people say it any more it does not have as much meaning as it once did.
