Are Americans getting more familiar with Mexican culture and traditions imported to the USA ?

It's funny you should use the term Anglo-Mexico. It is true Mexican traditions and culture are being adapted in the United States. But it isn't just changing us it is also changing them. Every large immigrant changes this country. Whats left after assimilation is not what was here before. The Scots-Irish in the beginning years of this country and the Irish (no those aren't the same groups) following the Great Potato Famine are two really good examples. The Scots-Irish literally overran the culture of the Pilgrims, Calvanists and other groups here in this country. The purest form of this culture is still found in Appalachia today. Their extreme individualism, distrust of government, the belief that they would determine what laws would and would not be followed, and their extreme dislike of the English could almost be cited as the cause of the Revolutionary War. The Irish who came later have more in common with the Mexicans in terms of how they were received in
America. More Irish immigrated to this country in the late 1800s than currently live in Ireland today. They were universally disliked and generated feelings of "these people aren't like us." They also gave us St. Patricks Day, organized politics, and of all things the fish sandwich at McDonalds. Their language, like Spanish, found its way into American English. Words you use today and don't think about: banshee, bard, galore, honeymoon, phoney, drum, slob, smithereens, etc.
They were accused of taking American jobs, refusing to learn our language and culture, being drunks, having too many children....
See the similarities.
So yes Americans are adapting Mexican culture and traditions. And yes in 50 to 100 years Americans of Mexican descent will be complaining about some other group not being American. Because while they are changing us we are also changing them.

You apparently don't know what the term "assimilate" means.
Americans that move to Mexico should assimilate to Mexican culture and traditions, but since the U.S. doesn't' belong to the Mexicans, them Mexicans need to assimilate to the U.S. culture and traditions including language when living here...............most don't though.

We've all been familiar with it for a long time. It's hard to miss when it's around all the time. I live in one of the most northern states, and still see Mexican influence, culture, food, people, etc...on a regular basis.

We're not assimilating into anything. We're American, we're just from everywhere. Where I'm from (Arizona) Mexican culture has been here for a very long time. I'm very familiar with Mexican culture, but I don't even recognize it as Mexican culture. Just rather the culture that I grew up with, which I consider American, but then again, American culture can be a lot of things, as we've got lots of tastes and influences.

Been to Mexico a bunch of times, and the cultures there (regionally) are great, but they're all different from what I grew up with. I grew up with American Southwestern Culture, which is a mix of Mexican, Spanish, and American. All good. All wonderful, but I'm not assimilating. Don't really know what I'd be assimilating into.

Nope, I will never "assimilate" to accommodate someone coming to my country. I do however demand that someone coming to my country assimilate and speak the language of the founding fathers not a foreign tongue.

no they are not.Americans love to try new foods-look at the fancy restaurants in the USA,they follow world trends-,some persons learn Spanish..but NOT costumes.not at all.
there are other-almost all other cultures around the world COPYING the USA.everybody wants to learn to speak English,many countries add lots-too many iÂ´d say, words in English to their everyday language.USA influences everything.music,videos,movies,TV shows....look at American franchises of food ALL over the world!i do not know if these things are better in US or they just have magnificent marketing and logistics but that is the way it is.everyoneÂ´s dream-or that of a great deal of people all over the world is to live in USA or at least visit !

Hon, did they assimilate to the Native American's culture? I don't think so! Instead they came here with their diseases and guns and took their land. They claimed they civilized them but they don't know the meaning of civil! You tell me who is civil, a bunch of barbarians wanting to impose their culture and religion on you or the peaceful Native Americans that had never seen a weapon? They don't know the meaning of assimilation!

Yeah, Mexican culture is pretty popular in the places I have lived. I lived in Southern California and now Hawaii.
I myself am American of Hawaiian/Caucasion descent and speak fluent Spanish. My caucasion dad also speaks fluent Spanish. We love, love, love Mexican food. I love how Mexicans are family oriented. And I think Mexican guys are hot, so that is why I married one! And my children have beautiful dark Mexican eyes with long, thick lashes. And in one year I will be living in D.F. Oh How I love Mexico!

Not I. I don't give a tinker's damn about Mexicans or their culture. All that I want to see is that ALL OF THEM leave the USA and live off their own nation. I understand their plight and their need of money, but that's Mexico's problem and not the problem of US citizens. I sat in a waiting room (ER) for eight hours because the place was packed with Latinos. I had insurance and could pay for the service. None of them had a dime. They saw the doctors first. By the time I reached the examination room I didn't care any more. I was limp. This is America? This is the country that I pay a healthy chunk of money each year to the IRS. Can they fix this problem? No way, Jose, unless all of the illegals get deported.
