Are Illegals Helping Stimulate our economy?

I meen by illegals being here are they keeping down wages? Or are they keeping America competitve by keeping the Wages low and Jobs in the U.S?

yars323 are you willing to put money that 99.99999% are unskilled laborers I'd bet most of them have more skills than you know how to do.

I'd say they are a bit of a short-sighted quick fix. Yes, they do make it easier for some companies to get stuff done cheaply (and may even prevent these companies from going offshore), but in the long run, the other side of the scale will come crashing down as for one, bolstering that side of the economy with low-wage orkers who are unlikely to be able to sustain themselves with the meagre wages they earn does not produce citizens who are actually able to buy the products they manufacture (ever read about Henry Ford's original intentions?), and also, by leaving this sector of the economy unregulated and unattractive will lead to total dependency on illegals in the long run, encouraging illegal immigration, and creating huge social problems. I think the solution would be to bite the bullet and accept that a certain standard of skill and integratability into American society must be proven by immigrants, make them legal, and empower them to become factors contributing to American society not only by toiling for it, but also by being able to contribute financially to its tax- and social system in the long run. That way, a looming problem would be turned into an asset.

I believe they are helping the economy in the sense that they are willing to preform roles that many established North Americans would not want to do. Therefore we can elivate our own job profiles to ones that are more challenging, and *gulp* respectful. We therefore are increasing our expectations of ourselves.

I can't see where they are stimulating the economy. I'm very sure they're not helping the tax base in the local communities.

That would be decreasing wouldn't it?

Stimulate:To rouse to activity or heightened action, as by spurring or goading; excite.

To a certain degree I think a few would help but America is not benefitting from getting 1000's of uillegals crossing the border each day. No w we have too many where as they can take my job at the car wash, I wanted that job. Plus we allow them to have there kids here then they become "natural-born citizens" so there qualify for welfare and education, the population gets bigger. They keep our wages down but steal a lot of jobs in America.

US busenesses thrive on cheap labor and 12mln added consumers. Evety immigrant buys goods from a US store, thus creating more service jobs. We buy everything from houses to shoes, made by US companies. That's a HUGE boon to the economy.

No, I believe they hurt our economy. Americans would take those same jobs, just at a higher wage, so I believe that they contribute to unemployment. Many dont pay taxes, but use our public services (police, fire, schools, healthcare, roads, etc)- so the legal taxpayers fund all of this for them. Then they take a large percentage of their earnings and send it back to their own country, which drains money right out of the American economy. There are many ways which they hurt our economy.

?
Noo...Not Stimulating

DEGRADING Our Economy

One Example

ILLEGAL Aliens Send Some 39 BILLION Dollars - With A "B" -
OUT Of The Economy ANNUALLY

Once The US Dollar Leaves The US
Its GONE From Our Economy

Just type in ( the high cost of illegal immigration ) and you decide, between what they bring and give, or take.

Debt spending is 'stimulating' the economy, the illegals are statistically a net negative influence on the economy.

Illegal immigrants keep down the general standard of living that our country has achieved over the past 230 years. By undercutting the lowest legal wage and not paying taxes, but still burdening our social safety net, that act as a drag on the success of our economy.

They also permit corporations from being responsible citizens and pay the legal wage mandated by law. If corporations were monitored and the legal wage enforced, all those jobs that "Americans no longer want", would be wanted.

Anyone working in this country, using our resources and not paying taxes can't be good for the economy.

Yes they are. Illegals contribute more to the economy then they take out, there is a lot of evidence to support this, however that doesn't make illegal immigration a good thing. Illegals take away jobs from legal immigrants, and legals contribute more to the economy than illegals, and take back less, so immigration is good, illegal immigration is worse.

Yes, the dallas area is a prime example of the benefit due to illegal immigrants. It keeps costs low so that employers do not have to hire people that they know will want more than an alien's salary. They even open up more for the jobs market by supplying the buildings and roads that are being built by these people. In a tragic but true way it's a good thing.
