First of all, some of the jobs they take are not last resort jobs.

Secondly, maybe some last resort jobs would not be last resort if the employer payed fairly, rather than paying illegal immigrants lower rates than any reasonable American would do that particular job for.

Finally, as long as there are people losing jobs, or there is a high unemployment rate the "last resort" jobs are still needed by legal Americans.

If someone is in this country legally they are more than welcome to be here.

Illegal alien criminals, however, glut the market with the lower end, lower educated jobs, thereby depressing wages. They take jobs away from the most vulnerable Americans (who are also lower skilled/educated) by working for less than minimum wage and "off the books" thereby saving the (also) criminal employer payroll taxes.

YES, illegal immigrants are really taking jobs away from American people....those that need the jobs the most.

Some people's last resort? Yes there are those kind of people. I've met a few. Then there are people who like and rely on that type of work. What are they supposed to do when they can't get a job because of illegal laborers? Should any of our citizens be disposable so that corporations can illegally increase their profits?

I don't know if they are "taking" jobs more than they are "offered" jobs by companies who don't want to pay American workers what they are worth. Illegal immigrants ususally take whatever pay is offered, and because they are illegal they probably won't complain about the unfair wage pay.

It's not the jobs that are in contention. There will always be manual labor and service jobs which are begging to be filled.

The problem is in the welfare and social services which ILLEGAL immigrants demand and the US infrastructure is struggling to provide.

Illegals were used to break the Domestics Union in CA so $11.ph jobs became illegal below minimum wage jobs. In an Iowa meat packing plant illegals were found earning $8.ph at what had been an $18.ph job. Once they were caught Americans literally lined up, the next morning, to apply for those jobs.

Well, lets rephrase it. Jobs that Americans could have are otherwise occupied by people who shouldn't be in the country. Its not always last resort for citizens, either. High school and college kids who are still learning skills and trades need them, many people want them for extra income as a second or third job, there are people who for various reasons need something part time, seasnal, or flexible positions, and are all willing to do the work. I certainly have done my share of low paying jobs in my life, out of necessity.

If it is as you say a last resort job isn't that all the more reason to let Americans or legal immigrants occupy those positions?
They may not be taking those high paying jobs that you refer to but they are certainly costing people their high paying jobs. An example of this would be any hospital that has closed as a result of none paying illegal aliens.

Yes they are. Roofing, construction, restaurants, farm work, and tons of others. Good jobs that Americans would like to have. I have talked to legal migrant farm workers and they tell me the illegals are driving down their wages. This needs to stop now.

they are definitely taking my taxes here in Texas funding their babies, schooling, housing and most drive with no insurance and committ crimes since many were fleeing Mexico and the federalies.

there are plenty of jobs that Americans don't want. We are paying more than minimum to people to pound pickles into a jar. Most of them are Mexican. Yes we have contracts and permits to bring them here. Yes we attempt to verify identity, but it may take many months for a bad social security number to get flagged.

Yes, they are. As long as there is an able bodied American who is looking for a job and can't find one, these illegals need to go. They are such a detriment to our society as well as our unskilled job market, it's a sickening scenario.

I don't know about business jobs, but they are taking jobs in restaurants, retail and other low-paying jobs.

I don't think immigrants are taking the high paying jobs, but what I know for a fact is that there are more than one million US citizens living in Mexico, that the biggest American community outside the USA is in Mexico, and they do take high paying jobs. I don't know why my country's goverment isn't doing anything to get rid of all those hated American immigrants.
I really get annoyed when I see how Americans are invading my neigbourhood in Mexico City, and the worse of all is that they don't have a bit of culture. It's facinating to see how many of them don't even speak Spanish, French, German or any other language but English, well, I supose it's a matter of education.
If you knew how Americans are seen by the other 70% of Mexicans who are not poor and uneducated you would be surprised, because only the remaining 30% are so poor and have such a lack of education that they think that by going to the USA they will have a better life. I mean, you have to be stupid or retarded to think that USA is better place to live than Mexico.

You're right but ignorant people will be ignorant. America treats immigrants like crap and makes it hard for them to make a living. I'm not saying we should let them run free illegally or cheat the system, of course not. If we're making it hard for them how can they possibly take any high paying business jobs? When was the last time you saw an immigrant working at a high paying job? They take the jobs we won't take unless we were really desperate for money, even then sometimes we don't take those jobs. Like you said they're only taking the jobs we won't take. I don't understand why we complain because its not like we're losing something we want. Anyone with commen sense and some type of education can see that. However as I said before ignorant people will be ignorant.

I have several immigrants (all legal) that work for me. Overall, they are the most loyal, hardest working people I have on staff. The perform tasks that the American kids (18-21ish) don't want to do. They aren't gross tasks, just require actual work. My immigrants are more than happy to do whatever I ask of them, are so grateful when they get raises and promotions and some have stayed with me for years.

Sadly, most Americans are so snobby we want these cushy, office jobs where we can do our work while we chat online and check our myspace. Even our teenagers don't want to do manual labor.

I had a 14 year old kid come to my house asking for something to do to make money. I offered to pay him to mow my lawn. He refused to do it. He was thinkin more like me paying him $30 to set up my computer, not doing real work.

The problem isn't that immigrants are taking our jobs. It's that we need the immigrants to do the jobs cause we are too snobby to do them ourselves.
