What we have here is a combination of American government leaders who don't care that illegal immigration is ruining our country, and millions of slimy Mexicans who make a run for the border to grab benefits from America without paying for it.
The good guys don't always win. We are going to lose this country to slimy Mexican parasites. |

Very interesting analogy. I think it fits for the people who want cheap exploitable labor. However, Many farmers cant get us citizens to work for any wage, or so they say. I imagine if they raised the wages and the prices, there would always be some farmer using illegal labor to sell cheaper. |

Not exactly because these guys volunteered their services and in many cases purposely chose to work for less. The slaves didn't have a choice. Secondly it is not benefitting me because nothing they are doing is lowering my price......it's additional money in the pocket of the employer or tax free money in their own pocket. The illegals are free to go anytime they want. Business is using it as an excuse or a threat.......because they still want their huge profits. They'd rather squeeze it out of us than to pinch away a little of their profits. |

Its close, but its not exactly the same. Immigrants choose to come to this country and can choose to leave where as slaves did not have that right. Also, a big justification for slavery was that whites were superior. |

Since when has the cost of anything been kept down? What planet are you living on? They pay the illegal immigrants low wages so that the CEO's can line their pockets with more money, not keep costs down for us. That's also why so many companies are outsourcing jobs to other countries--because it's cheaper to pay thrid-world workers and it saves the companies money, not us. |

There's no justification for illegal immigration. It's "illegal" and that's the end of it. You can accomplish the same thing (controlling costs) with legal immigration through the already existent guest worker programs. We're letting Mexico dictate what we do here in America and that's unacceptable. |

You might be pushing the metaphor a bit too far, but I think you are correct. Cheap labor is what corporate America loves best. A fair and livable wage is somehow a dirty word in a time when CEO's and top executives are literally raking in money. It's really obscene.
Corp. America sends good jobs to Mexico and then hires illegals here in the US. And of course China is the recipient of good American jobs as well, because their workers actually live on site, work 12 hour days and are content to make no money.

You are right to a point. During slavery, the slaves were brought here unwillingly and were sold as stock. Today's illegal immigrants pay to come here in most instances and most but not all are free to roam from one location to the other. They are not sold as stock. |

Perhaps such justifications are a prelude to legalized slavery. The US has a well established history of such practices. To read a short history of those programs, go to Bracero Program at Wikipedia.com. There is much more about the program in the research department of your local or college library. I highly recommend you read about the history of the Bracero Program. |

this past fall crops rotted on the vine because there was no one to pick them. no Americans, no Mexicans, no one. As for comparing this to slavery, I don't recall ever hearing of Africans paying to get to America so they could become slaves. Mexicans do pay high prices to people that will get them across the border, Apparently to do jobs Americans DON'T want to do. |

Slaves didn't have a choice to be in the US, but illegal immigrants do, and they hurt every american citizen when we have to pay taxes for social programs to support them, give up our jobs because they have no choice but to work cheaper than an american, which benefits no one but the employer that hires them. There is always the all popular excuse that they will do the jobs americans won't do, this is a bunch of garbage, those jobs were being done by americans before any immigrant set foot in this country, and would continue to get done if they were deported. Politicians never finish the sentence, Americans will not do the jobs the illegal alien will do, FOR SLAVE WAGES, and we as americans should not be subjected to Gov't greed, and ENFORCE THE LAW. Being in this country illegal is a Felony, so why are the illegals not being prosecuted and deported. I have a very simple solution to the immigration problem: Prosecute all landlords that house them, prosecute all employers that hire them, and make them get unforgeable ID's for those here legally and make it to where their legal status can be electronically verified, and make amnesty for those in violation non-existant, jail time and deportation should be the penalty. I personally don't care that people want to make this country their home, just do it LEGALLY and pay taxes like i do, and in the same proportions as i do. |
