Are there any 'jobs that americans won't do'...?

What is that show on Discovery Channel or is it TLC, I think it's called Americas Dirty Jobs?? (don't quote me) Anyways there are some nasty jobs on there...definitely worse than cleaning a toilet or picking fruit, and guess what.......they are American citizens doing them!!!! So that show right there proves that the answer to your question is NO, Americans will do the job, they have in the past, there are some that do them now, and there will be some doing those jobs in the future. It's just a myth the Government wants us to buy into.

I'm an american and there's no job i won't do.
Picking fruit and working in the fields is really really hard. i've done that .
i've been a dishwasher, it's a lot of work for minimum wage.
i've also done a little bit of construction, thankfully, i'm not that weak so i didn't suffer that much.
I can do all these jobs, but I just don't represent all the americans in the US. I've noticed that most Americans don't like doing those jobs.

I'm game- I'll answer another Gokart question; they are usually similar to ones I like to ask or think about asking. First off, you are exactly right- why hasn't our government taken action against those who have knowingly employed illegal immigrants? By simply enforcing the immigration/employment policies we have set in this country and by punishing corporate leaders with jail and/or huge fines for illegally hiring illegal immigrants in order to squeeze out a bit more profit, much of the illegal immigration issue would take care of itself as illegals wouldn't come here because there wouldn't be as great of a financial incentive to do so. Once again, and I think I addressed this on one of your other questions I answered, part of the reason our government has ignored enforcing our immigration and employment policies is simply both parties have heard for the last 2 decades, like the rest of us, that Latinos/Hispanics will make up the largest ethnic group inside the US shortly and both parties are trying to gain favor with this emerging, important voting bloc- at the expense of todays American citizens who put them into office. Making an additional assumption here, but most elected officials- on all levels- from both parties are generally better off financially than the general public and quite possibly benefit more economically from illegal immigrants in the US than the general public; it would be interesting to see how many government officials on any level and from both parties employ illegal immigrants privately at home, their businesses, their govt. staff, etc. Another thing to look at is that there is so much bureaucracy within our government, that it is also the job of many government employees to basically help/work for illegal immigrants; these government employees actually have financial incentive to support the illegals at the expense of American citizens and American laws. Now, turning to the next issue as to illegals doing jobs that Americans won't do. I guess I'll start out by saying the jobs most illegals do that Americans supposedly won't are unskilled labor positions ranging from domestic servants to agriculture to factory positions and etc. I concede the fact that migrant workers HAVE traditionally worked on many farms performing various positions such as harvesting crops; this IS one area that I agree most Americans generally have traditionally chosen not to perform largely due to low pay, intense hours and limited periods of employment- all these migrant workers traditionally return to the same place(s) of employment each year, however, and could easily be accepted as guest workers. As for most of the other positions that Americans won't do, I strongly disagree. Many of the other non-skilled positions being taken by illegal immigrants have traditionally been done/held by American citizens- or legal immigrants. These positions have simply become very difficult for Americans/legal immigrants to obtain because, over time, the companies and individuals supplying the jobs have learned they can pay illegal immigrants less money by paying them under the table/no benefits/ etc. One of my friends has made a career working for nearly 2 decades doing one of the jobs that Americans are supposedly not interested in doing by working in the landscaping business- right along with his illegal co-workers. From what I understand on this situation this company used to hire Americans to do this work; my buddy has kept his job partially because of his strong work-ethic and job performance and partially because the company needed a token "gringo" to communicate with customers (so they made him a supervisor); otherwise, the company no longer looks to hire Americans because they find they can simply hire illegal immigrants each year to do the job (they pay them less, don't have to pay into retirement, don't have to pay into unemployment for them, etc, etc). I also know that the factory I once worked at simply closed here in Michigan (this was years after I had moved on and began to hold a variety of office positions for this, and then another, company) and moved south because the labor was cheaper- I can only guess why. Most of the jobs Americans "won't do" are jobs that Americans USED TO DO but now are prevented from doing because the companies and individuals doing the hiring know they can pay illegal immigrants less.

Cleaning toilets, school janitor, cleaning ladies, servants, pool boys, dishwashers, garbage collectors, street sweepers, working in sweatshops producing American made apparel, waiters, any job that is too menial.

Look around you. The wages are offensively low for an American, but not for illegals, those wages are far better than anything they could be offered in their home country.

I've never heard of anyone from the government as a dishwasher, have you?
