Hip! Hip! Hooray! for you I come from from my father's side, mexican and from my mother's american. Both of our parent's had instill in us to be patriotic to our country, which is the good old U.S. of A. and I am proud to be an american. I am a 64 yr. old women and What you wrote about the illegals is very true. Why do they have to flaunt their flag in our soil, we do not go to Mexico and do the same. They should be ashamed of themselves in trying to force their ways in us. Can't they see that they all looked ridiculous doing that.

I am from Mexico, and i understand your point.

I love my country, but it's really frustrating that there are not the oportunities we need, because we have not been able to make our economy grows at the rithm we need.

It's frustating to anybody not to find the ways to live, there is no way to make our lands to be productive, we don't have enougth companies to hire our population.

There are lots of things to do around here, that's a fact, and that's something we can only try to fix trougth our vote, but our democracy is just starting to say the true.

But, what i think you don't want to acknowledge the other part of this problem, it is a natural thing the migration, because of the nature or our countries, and because of the big border we share.

It's a reality that there's the need of all of that labor in the USA, is the market nature that the labor, wich is not payed in Mexico, go to the other country where it is needed.

It's a reality that in the USA, the population is older, and our population is mayority young. That's makes natural the migration as well, the companies are aware that many of the people in the USA is gonna be retired soon, and they will need the young people to maintain the economy moving.

In the USA the farmers are subsidize, and that make our farmers in a big disadvantage to compite, being the USA our main comercial partner. And those are important issues in the NAFTA, that should be revised.

Those are facts, and as dificult as our relations are, there is a lot of work to do, togheter, after all, we are associates, we are neighbors.

If you go to the minutemen's website theyr mission clearly states that they are against immigration because they're afraid their kids wont assimilate to the collision of cultures. They dont want their kids to combine with Mexican culture! This was the same exact thinking behind racial segregation. No doubt that theres a racial factor in the immigration issue. I understand people are worried about terrorists entering the country, but how is treating hardworking illegal hispanics like criminals going to stop terrorists from coming into the country?

Do you fully understand what is required to become a LEGAL immigrant and why so many people want to leave their countries to live and work here? I think EVERYONE needs to take the time to learn about the full issue, both sides of it, and not just the "digest" version from the evening news. Most illgeal immigrants WANT to become legal but do not have the money to afford the fees or attorneys, and the entire process takes up to ten years. We need to fix the process and stop hating the people involved.

America is going to fall because the illegals that are coming in now most only have a third grade education, that means low income jobs, large families on welfare, their is already 250 thousand children just in L.A. alone on public assistance and most are Mexican, so what is going to happen in 20 years, soon if they can get their families from other countries over here, grandparents that will get social security without putting in one dime, aunts, uncles, soon their will be 192 million illegal immigrants here, Right now the United States is not deciding who gets in, the illegal immigrants are demanding to be let in whether we like it or not, and the people that are calling us racist are mostly people that are born here and they don't understand the magnitude of the problem that will happen in the future, when you have a country full of ignorant people you have a third world country, like Mexico and south America, and the ones from south America are even more illiterate, their are thousands of south Americans hopping trains going north to get to Mexico so they can get over the border, a lot of unwed mothers and their children so that means more people on welfare and that's what their hoping for. soon their will be no middle class and that's when you have a third world country.

Not only this, but the fact that the original pride of America is being scorned in recent years. America was once proudly called a 'melting pot' for the nations. People came here to get away from thier original countries. A part of this transition was 'melting' into the American culture. Anyone could retainthier racial and cultural identity, but this whole thing of immigrants expecting the country to fit to them and thier standards, this is not what was meant to happen. People come here to start fresh, not to fling thier culture in our faces. I love to learn about other cultures, and to meet people who live/lived differently from me, who speak different languages, but I cannot help but be slightly offended by someone coming to my home and my country that I work to build and mould, and for them to refuse to learn the language of the country, and refuse to accept the culture of the country, and to mock me for being American, in America. If you were to go live in France, they would expect you to speak French, to know the culture, to fit in. The same applies to any other country you would like to examine. If they expect us to conformto thier standards when we go there, why should we not expect the same over here??? This is the major reason that illegal immigration should be controlled- those who really want to come here, who are willing to become a part of the culture, will go through the work to come legally. This besides the fact that a large amount of the money earned by illegal immigrants is being siphoned out of our country, draining money and assets out of our country.

Don't worry, in the end the illegal immigrants will not win. They may get a little bit of slack but they are not going to get amnesty even in their lives depend on it (and some do) and that is what they will have to live with.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I live in England where illegal immigrants have houses built for them and get given everything including help to find a job and money to tide them over until they do. I am English, always lived in England and when I applied to the local council for a house, I was told I would have to wait 2 years, now I am looking for a part time job but I can't get one and I can't get a lot of help to find one because I don't fall into one of their "categories". I don't mean to be rude here but America is very big, Mexico is at least on the same continent, we are only very small and get people from Asia and that makes no sense at all. The problem with some immigrants is that they ARE intelligent, intelligent enough to know that they can do what they want, say what they want, get everything they want and accuse other people of being racist if they don't like it.

Of course there are intelligent immigrants. Unfortunately, those carrying Mexican flags on the May 1st protests are not them. If they were intelligent, they would be protesting the Mexican government's incompitence in Mexico rather than protesting the laws of a country they have no right to legally be in.

they flood our schools and are taking jobs away from us and lowering the wages across the board but i cant blame them anybody would do the same to feed thier families but yes why not take over the mex. gove.???? and put good people in power ??? maybe we should be doing the same!!!!!

Sadly, they are being lead by some pretty stupid people, that are trying to cloud the immigration issues and mislead as to the true facts by toying on emotions instead.

There are intelligent immigrants and I am sure that even some of the illegal immigrants are intelligent as well, it is the supporters of illegal immigrants whose intelligence I question.

First, there is NO REASON they should be allowed to break our laws, no matter how poor the location they come from is.

Second, there are just as many coming from the same locations who are doing it legally and somehow they should be bumped out of line because someone else cheated?

If they want to become citizens here (which NOT EVERYONE CAN) then they should start by showing us that they can obey our laws, whether they agree with them or not. AND if they are truly proud to be here and WANT to be americans, then leave the waving of Mexican flags to Mexican holidays, not protests in support of their illegality.

I, for one AM aware of both sides of the issues DCgirl, I understand first hand the poverty and corruption SOME come from looking for a better life, but to disrespect the law is the first sign that they will have no qualms violating others. They want something from us, they should act in good faith.
And remember, not ALL illegals just want to become citizens etc. and SEVERAL break our other laws even AFTER breaking the one coming here illegally.

Intelligent yes, professionals and good workers.. there are lots.
There are bad people too, but that does'nt involve countries just parents, and intolerance.

ur question is pathetic, of course threes intelligent illegals. It seems to me that if for some reason these ppl want to scream out in the streets for what they believe they could do it illegal or not.about breaking the bank i have read polls and man these ppl are the ones that help bring the economy up. I Love these people they work hard and if they do ever leave were in big trouble. you may say no but its because immigrants are the ones that have made America what it is now. Lets see how many people could stay very long cleaning bathrooms most citizens will never do this or even consider doing it. lets see how long they could last. maybe ur going to do these jobs for ur fellow Americans right? lol
