I am not sure how you think that white Americans are in some way linked to Pearl Harbor, Hitler, or 911. Further, how can an ancestor still be guilty of something. They were guilty, but now that they are dead, they are no longer guilty. To answer your question not only am I not ashamed, but I feel sorry for you people that cannot help but feel sorry for yourself. Must be pretty bad to always be trying to put others down just to lift your own self up.

The Blacks enslaved themselves. Native tribes in Africa would war amongst one another, the victor would take slaves and then often sell them to Europeans. Native Americans also had slaves to work their fields, just as whites did. Let us not forget that the indians were pretty good at exterminating one another long before white settlers arrived in North America. The Osage Indians were notorious for doing that, infact there is an instance recorded in history where an Osage raiding party slaughtered over 100 Kiowa's and the butchery was far more savage than Custers famous atrocity.
So in answer to your question, are all white Americans cursed, I would have to reply, we are no more cursed than any other race of people as all of humanity has a long history of treating our fellow man like crap.

People of all races have been killing each other since the beginning of time. People have been enslaving others for nearly as long. If white Americans are cursed, so are all the other races of the world. Have you read about the tragedies that took place in Asia during WWII? It was absolutley atrocious! And what about Rwanda 10 years ago? And the current genocide in Darfur? If you condemn the caucasions of the world for their ancestors mistakes, then you condemn every man, woman, and child, living and dead, in the same breath. At one time every people has been oppressed by someone else. If you believe that whites are cursed, then you must believe the human population in its entirity is. You can't hate a race simply because one person is racist. Racist people are more likely to speak their mind, than those that aren't racist. Simply because we dont CARE. I am not ashamed of the crimes that have taken place before me because that doesnt matter to me. My ancestors may be guilty of it but that doesnt mean that i am.

I am a white American and none of my relatives did those things. SOME whites did those things, not all. Even if they did, that doesn't make me guilty of anything. Just because someone 8 generations before me was a bad person doesn't make me a bad person. It's funny how most of the comments about whites being racist are racist in and of themselves. People enslaved blacks, and people 'exterminated' (your words) Native Americans, why does skin color have to even be brought up? You are categorizing all whites as being 'cursed' based on the color of our skin - which is racist. You sound just as racist as those you are referring to. EVERY race and nation has people that have done awful things to other people, not just Americans and not just whites. You need to read a world history book. What ever they did is gone...in the past, right, wrong or otherwise.

They are not me, I am not them, I was not the torturer at any time, as you hopefully are not the victim now or in the past.

We will always at some time no matter who we are, be a victim.

What point would there be to dwell on mistakes made by others, out of our control, in shame or guilt, instead of learning from them.

Dont get me wrong, to ignore it is as bad as doing....but to dwell on the sadness of it does no good, in fact it keeps the bad memory alive....do something positive about it, learn from it...prevent those actions in the future without joining that category of behavior, retaliation is worse and only proves weakness. Rising above it takes strength.

Many people of those groups deserve much more recognition for rising above it.

White americans have/do enslave, persecute, exterminate other whites as well. The same can be said of Blacks, Native Americans, Middle-easterners and every other culture that has or will exist.

It is a human trait.....unfortunate but true.

Crimes follow criminals and victims.....there will never cease to be criminals and victims. A curse? Humanity has many.

These things cannot be forgotten, they are lessons of how not to behave, how not to treat others, and need to be honored so they can hopefully not happen again on those scales.

My question is why is America the target of the negitivity of the world all the time? Go to south africa, go to iraq, there are many countries, cultures and people who have done much worse, and sadly continue to do so.

Hitler was not american....we are the ones who helped end his reign of terror. Pearl harbor was an attack against us without warning, we helped end that hostility. Enslavement of blacks...we changed and prevented it in the end. 911, was not an action we did, we suffered. Exterminating Native Americans is no longer a problem.

We changed things, we overcame these, we evolved.

I am my own person I can only be responsible for my own actions. I am mixed not black and white but polish and German does that mean that I am supposed to stand in the mirror and slap my self repeating I love you, I hate you. What happened happened. thousands of people got killed in Germany just because they had the wrong last name or their nose was to big or some other stupid reason my ancestors lived both parts. Do I hate them "no" . Is there any thing I can do to change what happened "no" I can only live every day as it is handed to me. Life is to short to hate anyone. Or to worry about what my ancestor went through. I think the world needs to move on and stop using racism as an excuse. We all have our own history.
