This reminds me of a case where someone burlarizing a house sued the owners because he tripped over something and broke his nose.

Some laws are damn stupid!

Even if those border agents shot and killed those drug smugglers (instead of just assaulting them)... they should not receive a day in jail -- they should instead be rewarded.

That is to say I wrote my personal message and pushed 'send'. However, the fine print says the email and names are on file with Grassfire and will be transmitted with the petition, and I never got a screen where the email and name was requested.

I think they need that to give emphasis to the petition, although, since this is not a legal referendum, perhaps they don't think it is necessary.

If there is a page that does have the registration requirements, though, you may want to post it.

The only "True Americans" are Native American Indians, which we so nicley, stole, killed, raped, poisoned , cheated , infected, sold drugs and weapons to. So if we are to accept your argument about True Americans.shouldn't we at least compensate American Indians for what we have done to their cultures? With that said, More Border patrol members are not going to stop the problem. The Government is crying poor but spending 200 million a day on Iraq to try fix that disaster. Youcan thank NAFTA and a bunch of other failed government programs. If you really want to stem illegal immigration we need to spend our resources here to fix the problem from within.

when a cop in new york shoots an unarmed black person because he "thought he had a gun", the cop gets in trouble. if they shoot the person IN THE BACK, then they really, really get in trouble. whether or not the person is a drug dealer is irrelevant to the situation because the cop didn't know that when they fired the gun.

same goes for border patrol. they are clearly instructed NOT to shoot people who are fleeing. if they are allowed to shoot at will because they're angry at the person or want to decide the law for themselves, then we will be living in a third world country.

20 years is harsh, and i can't believe any judge would actually give that sentence. however, punishment is in order. how can you complain about "illegal" immigrants while allowing our own law enforcement agents to break the law?

Rather than playing the race card (no need it) or to slip into some sort of xenophobia I'd rather play the "due process" card. Outrageous as many situations can be (and actually are), due process must be followed or else we might end up packing up the whole universe of rights, which is foundational to democracy. Law offenders may seem to be in a better position to get the best out of the system, but we rather defend this systems or else we may fall into two extremes:
1. Survival of the fittest: Everybody fends for themselves (Somalia-style warlords)
OR
2. Some sort of authoritarianism: dictatorship, theocracy, etc.
But, there are many people all over the world that would rather live under those two extremes. This is the danger, to me.
