I think we should just annex about 100 miles north of the border to mexico, block it off, and quarantine it as "uninhabitable" much like the 39th parallel.

though I doubt that would happen, and as others have stated, conservatives have been asking for this for years.

We should have deployed our military along the border years ago.... this problem has been escalating for years. A country like the US, without secure borders cannot remain or provide safety and security for its citizens. Why should we allow our country to put us at this unnecessary risk?

Their fleeing refugees have caused enough problems for the US. We don't need anymore.
Send the ones back we have. They can join the Mexican military and fight the drug wars which they should have done in the first place. Instead they enjoyed the benefits from these illegal gains and let it infect the whole country. Now it's "our" fault and we should 'clean it up".

If the border was only a few miles long and surrounded on both sides by unclimbable mountains it'd be one thing. However, the border between these two countries is nearly 2000 miles long. Thinking that we can positively control access over that much distance is ludicrous.

The Mariel Boat Lift is a poor comparison. Walking is not the same thing as boating across the shark infested Gulf.

Yet in places such as this tourist town that caters to the burgeoning middle class outside Mexico City, many Mexicans say their future looks brighter than it has in generations.

"The last five or six years have been good for Mexico," says Crescenciano Montiel, 34, manager of the Valle Paraiso water park. "Little by little, things have improved."

Such stories abound, involving Mexicans of all income levels. The economy is growing steadily, and poverty rates are declining significantly. Crime is down, public health and education levels are improving, and Mexico's democracy is more robust than at any time in its history.

Doesn't look like 'Civil Unrest' to me!....LOL
