Baby to be born in UK?

I am a UKC and husband a USC.
I know that if our baby was born in my homeland UK he/she can always apply for a U.S passport based on the fathers citizenship.
But what if it were the other way round, baby born in U.S will get a U.S passport BUT what about a UK passport (remember I the mother is a UK citz).

Yes, The baby can apply for United Kingdom Citizenship as well and will carry both.

If the child was born in the UK the child would be a British citizen otherwise than by descent and a US citizen.
If the child was born in the US the child would be a British citizen by descent and a US citizen.
The difference is basically that a British citizen otherwise than by descent can pass on his nationality while a citizen by descent can not.
If you want your grandchildren to be dual citizens you might be better off having your children in the UK. |

It doesn't matter where the baby is born: it qualifies for citizenship of both countries because it has a citizen parent of each country. |
