Deportation. There are no illegal aliens that have not broken the law so we can't really say anything like, 'Let's weed out the criminals and let the rest stay' However, there is a long list of law abiding citizens waiting to immigrate here. No problems replacing illegals w/legals by simplifying and speeding up the application process, right? There is no need for illegals here and no need to reward lawlessness with amnesty. |

Deportation all the way :)
Amnesty didn't work in "1986 Amnesty" so learn from history and don't repeat the same mistake |

Deportation.
Amnesty isn't fair to the many people who waited, paid their dues and worked for what they wanted the Legal way... |

I have always been for mass deportation. It would save our country and citizens a great deal. |

Deportation.
Illegally entering the USA is a crime, the penalty for that crime is deportation. The same with overstaying a visa.
There will never be another amnesty for illegal alien criminals, amnesty for illegal aliens was the biggest mistake the USA ever did in our history. |

I am a "very much" pro-immigration, however blank Amnesty will be the worst error on America history to prevent illegal immigration. |

Well, since none of the SEVEN amnesty bills since 1986 have reduced the illegal alien criminal problem, I obviously support DEPORTATION, of the Eisenhower brand. |

Deportation, clearly. At the same time, we need to fix the INS...it's broken as shows of all the people that are trying to get here the legal way but have to go through all the BS and the red tape. |

Deportation.
Reagan already gave us a blanket amnesty once. It was supposed to fix everything. Look where that got us. |

I will be frank. I am not an American, but for the last 11 years I have tried to cross all that red tape to become one of you. My nationality is Canadian. Several times already, the immigration offices have conveniently "lost" my paperwork and told me to refile. Good thing I (and my lawyer) have gotten into the habit of making copies. Immigration is probably the MOST inefficient governmental office there is, and it's DISGUSTING!!!! I came to America when I was 15 years old. I graduated high school and college here, so it's not like I'll be a drain on society. I also think America is a much better nation than Canada, and I lived there the first 15 years of my life to deserve an opinion on that. Honestly, I think I should receive honorary citizenship for those reasons alone.
HOWEVER, I have been going through this process legally, paying the fees, borrowing money from family when I don't have it myself, and trying to be a good citizen through it all. Illegal immigration is just that.... ILLEGAL!!!! Those who break the laws should be sent back. If they have no respect for the laws, they shouldn't be here in the first place. But government needs to compromise and become more efficient in these matters when those who DO go through the legal process are currently being blocked at every turn. Increasing filing fees is NOT the answer.... which they will be doing in a few weeks. (most illegals do so because they don't have the money.... makes a LOT of sense to charge MORE doesn't it?????) Not only that, but the paper work alone is atrocious!! You need a lawyer just to firgure out what form(s) to file. And that costs even more money.
To sum up: DEPORT the illegals. Lawbreaking should NEVER be tolerated. REWARD the legals by removing a lot of the red tape and rediculous fees. Afterall, if the Amnesty thing goes through, population will go up anyway. Why have all the red tape to hold out a population boom? Heck, this country was built by immigrants. Why kill that tradition? There NEEDS to be COMPROMISE. Thank you for indulging my rant. |

Deportation is the only answer to this problem and I wish Eisenhower were still here to oversee the operation. Some say children died during his deportation, would that have happened if their parents had given a **** about their children and not put them in jeopardy? These illegals have to start to take responsibility for their crimes and endangering children is one of the greatest of their criminal acts! |

Either, if we made the business that hired the illegals pay a heavy fine and or jail time, most illegals would find their way home the same way they found their way here. |

Why does everyone have to have a one-size- fits-all solution.
How about giving USCIS examiners, Immigration Judges, and the District Courts the authority to grant permanent residence or begin removal proceedings, on a case-by-case basis. |

It's not an either or thing. The immigration issue just is not so simple and people who want simple answers to sertious problems usually will be very unhappy with the result.
I know that illegal immigration is not right. I also know that I don't hate people for being illegals. That is my true feeling of the immigration issue.
The difference between me and some "antis" is that they want to arrest and deport all illegals and think that is the solution and I want to help make right the conditions that make them immigrate illegally because I think that is the solution..
Edit: Yahoo is Still Stupid is talking about Operation Wet back. It was in 1954 and caused over 1.2 million people to go to Mexico either by catching them and deporting them or more often chasing then from the US.
It was facist and stupid and caused people who WERE US citizens to leave the US to Mexico. Most of the US citizens were children but some were adults. Many the wifes of the people who left were US citizens and they went too. I think about 400 children died.
How can anyone want anything like this and say they are proud to be an American? |

I would really like a "conditional residency" compromise.
Honestly, I think that deportation is virtually impossible- 20 million people- And, I think that amnesty is only going to encourage more undocumented to come.....
Lesser of 2 evils? amnesty, I guess - with a stiff fine. and, anyone that is a criminal gets the boot. |

have a plan that would fine people X amount of money who have clean backgrounds and previous tax history to be able to stay and deport the real criminals and gang members.
I dont want to pay more for my taxes to find and deport people who want to work...I dont really care if it pisses off a couple of lazy rednecks. Not my fault you cant get a job because you arent willing to work for it. |
