If a child and his parents were all born in the Soviet Union, and they illegally came to America, were homeless, and the parents died leaving the child to be raised on the streets with little knowledge of the Russian language, when the man grew up, what would happen? Would he be deported back to Russia, even if he knew nothing about it?

Were they refugees? Sounds like it. It's time to visit the USCIS, and see what can be done. An adult has duty here to do that.
For now, he is not a citizen, nor a holder of a green card. Something proactive needs to be done, and chances are it might turn out favorably. |

Immigration law states that a person is responsible for their own status once they turn 18 years old, so the fact he didn't know the details of his arrival in the US no longer means a thing. |

Maybe. Since the Soviet Union broke up into a number of different countries, maybe you'd be deported to Russia, or maybe to Ukraine or some other country. |
