The thing is can we trust pakistan? are some of there goverment involved with letting terrorists into uk? |

Yes of course it should be up to our government, but they don't have a backbone, and don't want to take the drastic measures to deal with it, in fear of upsetting certain people.
We don't even have to cut out immigration altogether as that is noty feasible, but they need to seriously regulate the applications from Pakistan now, and it may well upset a few people, but i'd rather upset a few muslims than live in fear of the shopping centre down the road from blowing up |

Can you imagine the uproar if he did what a lot of us want and stop immigration altogether? |

I think protecting the citizens of UK and preventing crime in the UK is the responsibility of the government, not Pakistan. Pakistan already has its own problems with the terrorists which they are fighting with limited resources. If the Pakistani citizens have entered into the UK on a visa granted to them by the UK government, so Pakistan could not be blamed for that either.
In my opinion Brown just wants to find excuses to cover up his incompetence. |

Well, he's no good at protecting us so he's getting help from wherever he can ! ! ! |

seriously, what do you want him to do? Lock the borders? Imagine what would happen if he did that, no one in, no one out. You think it would still be ok for us to go abroad for holidays becasue, "it's ok for us to go abroad because we're not terrorists!"
dont think so.
Not all muslims are terrorists!!!
Pakistan and India must do more and work together to root out the main offenders of radicalization in their own countries, as it stands it goes a little something like this,
MI5 spend a fortune on investigations doing what the pakistani/indian authorities should be, on where the terror cells come from, they get some evidence but no action is taken...
If it were a smaller country like Iraq or Afghanistan we would have invaded years ago but thats not gonna happen because it a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big target to invade... |

Brown and New Labour opened the gates of Hell when they encouraged mass African , Asian Subcontinent and other immigration without a single word to the real British. They are in charge of the student visa immigration trick and they should take responsibility for it
What is worse Muslims and Africans in particular cannot return back to their real homes because they do not have a country worth returning to. Great isn't it? |

the UK rely on background checks from pakistani officials unfortunately no home office clowns check the background of these pakistani officials. Students and immigrants from any terrorist hot bed such as pakistan, should be barred from studying or coming to UK till they get their act together. We (the UK) cannot deport illegals to any country where they claim they are in danger (and then look after them better than our own pensioners) so if they don't get in to start with 'we' wont have to go through the problem of getting rid of them. No wonder this government is worried about the BNP performing well in the next elections. |

I agree it is the responsibility of the UK government to protect the UK hence there have been 12 arrested in the North West last week. Therefore I would say the police and government are doing a good job of protecting the citizens of the UK.
By using surveillance techniques that many people dont want - which is working.
I dont see how closing the boarders to a nationality or religion will. Indeed in some cases it will make British muslims feel more isolated, marginalised, discriminated against and therefore more likely to turn to terrorism. |

Pakistani Ambassador in UK has already told British Government that tackling the problem in UK is not Pakistan's problem, his interview broadcast was on BBC world yesterday.
But on other hand, arrest of these 12 mules is proof that British agencies are doing their job properly.
What We should expect from Pakistan is to check the background of anyone who applies for passport. Pakistan has new state of the art system in place for passport (MRP/BIOMETRIC). So why not they link it to other agencies within Pakistan, to make the checks thoroughly. Instead of asking the applicant to prove his innocence it would be better if the checks are made they Pakistani's Passport Agency. Passport should only be issued to those who qualify the certain criteria.
As far people asking for closing borders, that is not a solution. There are roughly 3000 Pakistani students in UK who came in 2008, only 11 of them were arrested & per law they are innocent until proven guilty. Foreign students pay 3 times higher fee than their UK counter parts, that basically means UK University are making their revenue from foreign students. Closing borders will reduce that revenue & then UK/EU student will have to pay £8000 per year for a University course.
Its just making the system better, Pakistan has to play his part & UK has to play its part. Both cannot point fingers at each other. |
