well, immigrants who come to America should speak English, otherwise, what's the point of everything? and I dislike Bush also cept I have to agree with him when it comes to illegal immigrants

yes and so does the congress, they passed a bill English is the official language, it just has to go through the house.I don't see what is so funny, their are a lot of people that are not good speakers.

What's worse than the fact that he can't even speak English is that he dared to suggest a bill that would make English our National Language. HELLO>>>>> we have NEVER had a National Language for a REASON!!!

If speaking Standard American English was a requirement of the job, he wouldn't have passed. but then neither would have Dan Quayle. Lets face it, that's what the Electoral Congress was created for by the Founding Fathers. To make sure the man who was actually elected, would be qualified for the job, and not be someone who couldn't speak and be of the wrong class.

Oops! Guess that's another thing that has failed for the US people.

I don't see that as ironic at all. Bush speaks better English than some of the people living in my town. (Scary, but true.)

President Bush may not be a great speaker, but he speaks with sincerity.

He is a Yale graduate, and is a very intelligent man. If you will remember back, the majority of Americans voted for this man, knowing how he spoke. They voted for him because of his strengths in taking responsibility for our country, his morals, ethics, and Christian values.

Maybe if you listened to what he is saying, instead of picking out flaws in his way of speaking, you just may find a great leader that truly loves America, and is insistent upon keeping all of us safe!

I'm thankful that he wants newcomers to speak English.

I don't have a problem at all understanding our President. He speaks TEXAN... and I am a Texan.

it's not ironic to me at all. they should speak english and learn the american culture & history, and also they should respect the country (USA) and it's people. period.

He is not a good speaker. But I have seen some who speak so well and know all the words-who are the biggest snakes in the world.!!!! But I guess image is everything to shallow people like yourself. And if you would like some knowledge for that pea brain-many famous and well-like and very intelligent people were poor speakers. Try using your brain and not looking at traits that some well-know snakes were good at who fooled the foolish with style.

I don't think that people who come in this Country should speak English the day after their arrival but i firmly believe that they should START learning the language instead of depend on translators....They should quit read
magazines in Spanish and watch Spanish programs on the many TV Spanish channels...By speaking the English language
they can sooner assimilate in our society.
