Can I claim UK job seeker allowance if I move from Australia to the UK and already have British citizenship?

I have a British passport as my mother was born in the UK, I am going to the UK for the first time in July and wish to live there. I was born in Australia, and I have a british and Australian passport, I am 22 years old. Will I be able to claim Job seeker allowance while I look for work when I get to London, even though I have never been to the UK because I technically am a citizen of Australia and the UK?

Nope, you can only claim Job seekers allowance if u had been living in UK for 12 months at least. You cannot claim it just after entering the country if u have spent more than 185 days out of UK.

So in your case, nope u cannot claim it. You need to pay TAX in UK for 185 days (out of 1 calendar year) at least or spend 12 months in UK to be eligible for it.

I travel a lot. Is there any relief on my PAYE if I spend more than 185 days out of the country?
